(BLC) - On the evening of September 27, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the People's Committee of Phong Tho district to organize the 6th Lai Chau Province Then Singing - Tinh Lute and Thai Xoe Art Festival in 2024.
Attending the festival were leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors; leaders of People's Committees of districts and cities in the province; comrades in the Organizing Committee and the Festival Jury.
On Phong Tho district side, there were Standing Committee of People's Council, People's Committee of the district and many people attending.
Comrade Tran Manh Hung - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism , Deputy Head of the Festival Organizing Committee delivered the opening speech of the festival.
With the theme “Then singing, Tinh lute and Thai Xoe art of Lai Chau - the shining essence”, the festival has the participation of 5 groups with 125 artists, actors, and core artists from districts and cities in the province. Within a maximum of 35 minutes, each group will perform 1 performance with the following genres: Then singing, Tinh lute, Then dance and Thai Xoe art revolving around the theme of praising the love of homeland, country, people, and the beauty of religious life imbued with the cultural identity of the Thai people.
Representatives of the Organizing Committee presented flowers and souvenir flags to the participating delegations.
Speaking at the festival, Mr. Tran Manh Hung - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the festival emphasized: In the journey of development, the Thai ethnic group has always preserved and promoted the beauty of their traditional arts. Many forms of performance are increasingly widely known and have become cultural symbols of the nation such as: Then singing (a form of performance associated with a mysterious spiritual life); Tinh lute (a musical instrument present in most folk art performances) and Xoe dance (the most unique and typical folk dance form of the Thai ethnic community).

Thai ethnic folk arts are focused on preservation and promotion by our province through many specific programs, projects and plans. A typical example is the Then singing - Tinh lute festival, a highly effective cultural activity, receiving enthusiastic support from the Thai ethnic community and audiences in districts across the province. Many potential artists and actors have also emerged from here, becoming important factors in promoting the beauty of Lai Chau Thai ethnic culture at competition stages, exchange stages in the region and nationwide...
A large audience came to watch and cheer.
This festival is a practical activity to celebrate the major holidays of the country and the province in 2024, and is also an opportunity for artisans and mass actors in Lai Chau province to meet, exchange, learn and share experiences. The festival also contributes to enhancing the honor, promotion, preservation, inheritance and development of the Then practice heritage of the Tay, Nung, Thai people and the Thai Xoe Art recognized by Unsesco as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity; strengthening the education of patriotic traditions, consolidating the great national unity bloc, promoting the socio-economic development of the province.
The festival is expected to close tomorrow evening, September 28.
