If PSG go deep in the Club World Cup, they may have to play continuously without any rest.

PSG's season opener is scheduled for August 17, but the Paris club want Ligue 1 to delay it to allow them a break from the FIFA Club World Cup. PSG argue that the team will be exhausted after participating in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™, which could run until July 13 if they reach the final.

As the top candidate for the Club World Cup after winning the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League, PSG are concerned that the tight schedule will affect their form in the early stages of the domestic season.

However, according to L'Équipe , the LFP has rejected PSG's request to postpone the match against Nantes. The LFP explained that the 2025/26 season's schedule is already too tight, and rescheduling the PSG-Nantes match on another date is not feasible.

However, PSG have said they will continue to negotiate with the LFP if they progress to the final stages of the Club World Cup, in the hope of reaching an agreement to ease the pressure on the schedule. In the round of 16 of the Club World Cup, PSG will only have to face Inter Miami, who are considered to be much weaker than them.

According to Le Parisien , the PSG board, led by president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, is putting pressure on them to protect the team's interests, especially when they have to compete on many fronts, including Ligue 1, the Champions League and the European Super Cup.

PSG confidently entered the round of 16 of the FIFA Club World Cup. In the early morning of June 24, PSG defeated Seattle Sounders 2-0 to win first place in Group B of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™.
