Liverpool lost the derby, MU beat Sheffield

Liverpool entered the Merseyside derby under pressure to win to continue their Premier League title race. However, coach Jurgen Klopp's team fell to a relegation-threatened Everton.

Everton started the game confidently and opened the scoring in the 27th minute thanks to Jarrad Branthwaite. The centre-back joined the attack and finished after a chaotic situation in the penalty area.

In the lead, Liverpool were determined to push the team up but could not score and continued to concede in the 58th minute. Dominic Calvert-Lewin jumped high to head the corner kick, sealing a 2-0 victory for Everton.

After this defeat, Liverpool are still in second place with 74 points after 34 matches, but Arsenal have widened the gap to 3 points at the top. The Kop are only 1 point ahead of Man City, who are second, while having played 2 more matches. Everton have consolidated their 16th position with 33 points after 34 matches and are 8 points clear of the relegation zone.

At home at Old Trafford, MU were twice taken the lead by Sheffield in the 35th and 50th minutes. Jayden Bogle opened the scoring for the visitors after a mistake by goalkeeper Andre Onana and Ben Brereton increased the score to 2-1 from a close-range finish.

Harry Maguire played a big role in helping MU equalize twice. The center-back headed the ball to level the score at 1-1 in the 42nd minute and earned a penalty when Bruno Fernandes leveled the score at 2-2 in the 61st minute.

MU completed the comeback when they scored 2 goals in 4 minutes from 81 to 85. Bruno Fernandes scored a great long-range shot, then assisted Rasmus Hojlund to score against Sheffield.

With this 4-2 victory, MU rose to 6th place in the Premier League table with 53 points after 33 matches. Sheffield continued to be at the bottom of the table with 16 points after 34 matches and 10 points away from safety.

Results of the remaining matches in the Premier League series taking place in the early morning of April 25: Newcastle lost 0-2 at Crystal Palace and Bournemouth won 1-0 against home team Wolves.
