Similar to the first preliminary round, the candidates must go through rounds including anthropometrics and a closed interview with the judges. Through that, the judges will select outstanding and suitable faces to enter the next round.
At the end of the preliminary round, the list of top 60 candidates for the final round has been officially revealed.
Special criteria
Miss Luong Thuy Linh, a member of the jury, said: “Linh’s criteria as a judge is to find a new Miss with both talent and beauty, first of all, she must have an attractive appearance, height is an advantage. Besides, Linh is looking for a girl with perfect beauty, with a balanced and healthy body. In particular, Linh wants to find a girl who is knowledgeable, interested in social issues and has her own opinions.”
Judge, Miss Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc shared her excitement when coming to the Preliminary Round 2. “Today, you all appeared well-groomed and also had good energy with many talents, so the atmosphere of the Preliminary Round became more bustling. Bao Ngoc's criteria for selecting the contestants is that you must show your own beauty and show the beauty of your region and hometown. That is also the mission of Miss Vietnam National.”
Revealing the criteria for selecting the new Miss this year, Director Hoang Nhat Nam expressed his hope to find a girl who possesses the following factors: Appearance, inner self, height, beauty, talent, or excellent foreign language ability. Because this is a contest with a completely new program framework for the girls to introduce their beauty and potential, introduce the culture, tourism, cuisine ... of the homeland they represent.
Meanwhile, Miss Ha Kieu Anh shared that the way to select contestants is different: “This is the first time the contest has included a Home Economics competition. Therefore, it will be very interesting because contestants need to demonstrate their skills in embroidery, sewing, cooking, flower arrangement…”
Miss Vietnam 2024 will take place from October to December. In October, there will be activities including preliminary rounds, contestant announcements, activities about the origin, and the "National Cultural Costume" competition.
In December, the judges will conduct interviews, organize the competitions "Talented Beauty Performing", "Home Economics Beauty", Vietnam Beauty Fashion Fest - VBFF 10, debate competition, Gratitude Fashion Music Night - Back to the Origin, "Beauty in Body" competition and the Final Night.
Candidates with impressive profiles
With special criteria, the jury has found truly impressive contestants right from the preliminary round. Like Nguyen Thi Hong May (born in 2006, from Hoa Binh ) possesses a sweet beauty and a series of impressive achievements. The beauty has received the Uncle Ho Badge for outstanding youth and students.
In addition, she is also passionate about sports. At the age of 18, she was a yoga assistant at a club and represented Hoa Binh province in the aerobics competition - a rather adventurous and highly technical sport of the National Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2024.
Huynh Ngoc Minh Phuc (born in 2006) from Ho Chi Minh City is one of the youngest contestants but has experience participating in the Miss Universe contest. Ngoc Phuc brings a gentle beauty to the contest. Although it is her first time participating in a beauty contest, she made a strong impression when she confidently answered the questions posed by the judges.
In particular, the Preliminary Round also gathered many familiar faces who had won high achievements in beauty contests. For example, Nguyen Thi Phuong Linh, from Quang Tri, a beauty who regretfully stopped in the top 5 of Miss World Vietnam 2022, returned to compete after completing her master's program abroad.
Not under pressure from previous achievements, after 2 years of returning, Phuong Linh shared in fluent English and said that she has constantly improved herself, learned to appreciate herself and is now ready to start a new journey at Miss Vietnam National 2024.
Vu My Ngan (Quang Ninh), who stopped early in the top 40 of Miss Vietnam 2020 and Miss Universe Vietnam 2022, with an outstanding height of 1.82 m, has once again determined to try her hand at Miss Vietnam National 2024. My Ngan shared that with her experience from the two previous competitions, she does not put too much pressure on herself and is ready to continue her journey of self-development in this year's competition.
Nguyen Thi Hoai Ngoc (Bac Giang) also stopped at the top 45 of Miss World Vietnam 2022. When asked by Miss Intercontinental Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc about her return this time, bringing with her the story of her spectacular weight loss journey and the process of overcoming depression, Hoai Ngoc showed a completely new spirit with a different version, confident and ready to welcome all challenges./.
