The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that at 9:00 a.m. on September 23, the center of super typhoon Ragasa (storm No. 9) was about 820 km east of Leizhou Peninsula (China). The strongest wind near the center of the super typhoon reached level 17 (202-221 km/h), gusting above level 17.
Due to the complicated developments of super typhoon Ragasa, Vietnam Airlines said it will adjust the operation plan of some flights to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.
Accordingly, flights between Vietnam and Northeast Asia will be rerouted to avoid the storm’s impact area. At the same time, the airline will cancel flights on September 23 between Ho Chi Minh City and Hong Kong (China).
In addition, many domestic and international flights on September 23 may be affected by storm Ragasa.
Vietnam Airlines recommends that passengers fasten their seat belts throughout the flight, especially in difficult weather conditions. Actively fastening your seat belt, even when the signal light is off, is an important measure to help minimize risks when the plane encounters air turbulence.
Previously, Vietjet also said that some flights on September 23 had to adjust their flight plans. Specifically, the airline has temporarily suspended 4 flights including VJ8892/VJ8893 on the Da Nang - Macao (China) - Da Nang route and VJ876/VJ877 on the Ho Chi Minh City - Hong Kong (China) - Ho Chi Minh City route.
Vietjet advises passengers to check flight schedules and weather before arriving at the airport as some flights may be suspended or have their flight times changed due to the storm.

Regarding response to super typhoon Ragasa, the Ministry of Construction has issued an urgent dispatch, requesting units and localities to focus on synchronously implementing prevention solutions to ensure safety for people, vehicles and infrastructure.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has directed airlines to closely monitor the situation, promptly adjust flight plans, and increase inspections of airport and terminal infrastructure to ensure absolute safety of aviation operations.
Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) said that Ragasa storm could seriously impact flight operations, especially at the air traffic control areas of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and airports in the North and Central regions. VATM held an urgent meeting and developed many response scenarios, including adjusting air traffic flow and deploying 24/7 personnel.
The meteorological agency warned that coastal areas of Quang Ninh - Hai Phong provinces have storm surges of 0.5-1m, with a high risk of landslides, sea dykes, and destruction of aquaculture areas and boats anchored along the coast due to strong winds, rising sea levels, and large waves.
From early morning of September 25, the coastal area of Quang Ninh - Thanh Hoa has winds gradually increasing to level 6-7, then increasing to level 8, the area near the storm center has winds of level 9-10, gusting to level 12; the area deep inland in the Northeast has strong winds of level 6-7, gusting to level 8-9.
