Bohol Island is the 10th largest island in the Philippines. It is not only a paradise for scuba diving enthusiasts but also attracts tourists with its unique Chocolate Hills.

The Chocolate Hills are famous for their unusual geological formation consisting of more than 1,800 conical mounds made of limestone, varying in height from 30-50m. Their strange shape reminds visitors of giant chocolates.

According to legend, the Chocolate Hills were formed from a tragic love story between a young god and a beautiful girl.

After the girl's death, the god cried so much that his tears fell to the mortal world, turning into the Chocolate Hills we see today.

The Chocolate Hills were once sedimentary rocks that emerged from the sea through geological movements.

However, according to the scientific journal Geology Science, the formation of the Chocolate Hills began millions of years ago when the island of Bohol was still under the sea.

Over time, limestone plateaus emerged from the sea, through geological movements of the Earth's crust.

The conical shape of the hills we see today is the result of erosion over millions of years.

Although scientists have studied the history of the Chocolate Hills, the origin of the site remains a mystery.

Experts acknowledge that these hills are formed from limestone formations, but the exact process of their formation remains incompletely explained.

The mysteries surrounding the origin of the Chocolate Hills have added to the appeal, as well as stimulated visitors' curiosity about this strange place.

The Chocolate Hills in Bohol Island are not only a geological wonder, but also an important cultural and tourist destination in the Philippines.

The Chocolate Hills are listed as one of the top destinations in Bohol Island by the Philippine Tourism Authority. The landmark has become a symbol of the area and a source of pride for the people of Bohol Island.

The unique limestone formations here are recognized as national geological monuments and are being considered for inclusion on the World Natural Heritage List of the United NationsEducational , Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
