The film attracted attention because it was inspired by the Sewol ferry tragedy in 2014 - an event that shocked and left deep pain in the minds of the Korean people. Instead of directly recreating the disaster, “Unspoken Words” chose to portray those who remained, with a family story full of loss, secrets and a desire to heal.

The work revolves around Ms. Yeon Jung and her small family after the death of her eldest son. The tragedy causes the members to become distant, each person hiding a secret and a pain of their own.
The “unspoken words” gradually accumulate like an invisible distance, only when the truth is revealed, they have the opportunity to face and together fulfill the promise to the deceased. From this story, the film sends the message: Facing the truth and sharing unexpressed emotions is the only way to heal.
“Unspoken Words” brings together an experienced cast with emotional acting such as Kim Hye Eun, Kim Pub Lae and especially Kim Bo Yoon - a young actress who plays a high school girl with many internal conflicts. Their acting brings depth to the story, which is already heavy with tragedy, while also opening up thoughtful moments for the audience.
Before its release, the film premiered at the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF III) last July, attracting attention for its delicate and humane approach to a thorny subject. Director Lee Sang Hoon said he chose Vietnam as his first international destination because of the similarities in family concepts and the way of preserving memories of loss and sacrifice.
Not only recounting the pain, the film "Unspoken Words" also brings hope: That love and frank sharing can heal wounds, bringing people closer together.
