With prices ranging from 60,000 - 200,000 VND/plate of rice, depending on the dish, Ms. Hoa's restaurant is jokingly called "rich people's rice" by many customers. For more than 4 decades, many people who visit the restaurant have become familiar with the image of the owner sitting in front of the restaurant preparing dishes, warmly welcoming diners from near and far.

This restaurant is also affectionately called "Ba Beo" restaurant, partly because of the owner's plump appearance. We still remember the time we met her at the end of last year, she was still healthy, smiling and saying that she weighed 135 kg, because she felt her health was getting weaker and weaker, so she decided to try to lose weight.

When he stopped by, Mr. Bui Van Trung (48 years old), the only son of Mrs. Hoa and her husband, said that his mother had passed away 6 months ago due to illness. He and his wife are now inheriting the restaurant that his mother had devoted to for 40 years.

"When my mother was seriously ill, she always told me to take over the restaurant that she had built her whole life, and not to let down the customers. It was my mother's words as well as her dedication to the restaurant when she was alive that motivated my husband, I and my family to always try our best to serve our customers, as we have done for many years," the owner recalled.

"After she passed away, will the taste of the food change?", Mr. Trung said that since he was 9 years old, he has been helping his mother at the restaurant, guided by his mother. In addition, his father also knew how to cook the dishes, and passed them on to him, so most of the dishes at this restaurant have not changed.

Mr. Trung helped his mother sell rice since he was a child.

"Hearing you passed away, I feel a little empty…"

According to observations, the restaurant is still crowded at present. During the peak lunch hour, office workers as well as many regular customers still come to eat, filling all the tables, one group of customers after another.

Every day, the restaurant still serves 30-40 different dishes, with a variety of preparation methods, from stewed, fried, stir-fried, soup... to a variety of ingredients such as fish, shrimp, squid, meat... The prices of the dishes have remained unchanged for many years, according to the restaurant owner.

Mr. Trung confided that the absence of his mother at the restaurant made him and many other diners feel empty, because it had been familiar for decades. However, he felt comforted when customers still came to support the restaurant as they had every year.

Mr. Thanh (28 years old), an office worker in District 3, said that for the past 2 years, he and his colleagues have visited this restaurant almost every week because it is close to the company. In addition, the variety of dishes, rich flavors, and suitable tastes have also made him and his colleagues consider this restaurant their "favorite".

"The owner of the restaurant is very cute. When I first heard about her passing, I felt a little sad and empty because every time I came to eat, I saw her sitting in front of the restaurant, laughing and talking. At first, I was worried because I didn't know if the food would taste the same as before. Luckily, I tried many dishes and they didn't change," the customer commented.

Next door, Ms. Hong Nhung, also a regular customer at the restaurant, said that although the price of rice here is a bit higher than many other restaurants, the quality of the food is good, she feels it is worth it so she still comes to support often. "I come a few days a week, but eating every day is quite painful for an office worker like me," she said with a laugh.

Many customers visit the shop to support

The owner said that the restaurant has been in business for three generations now, with his son also helping with the business. Every day, Mr. Trung, his relatives and dozens of employees enthusiastically serve meals to customers to support and inherit the business of his late mother.
