First things in the 2025 high school graduation exam

At 2:00 p.m. this afternoon (June 25), more than 1 million candidates nationwide entered the 2025 high school graduation exam by performing the procedure of checking personal information at the exam location and participating in the exam regulations. This year's high school graduation exam has many very special points.

This is the first year the exam is held for two groups of candidates following two different generaleducation programs, with two separate sets of exam questions and regulations.

Grade 12 candidates will take the exam with questions set according to the 2018 General Education program. Independent candidates who have studied the old program but have not graduated will take the exam with questions set according to the 2006 General Education program.

In particular, the exam took place right before the time when the 2-level local government apparatus system came into operation from July 1, so the exam was organized with 3-level local governments but the exam marking and announcement of exam results were done with 2-level local governments.

For 12th graders taking the exam under the 2018 General Education Program, the 2025 High School Graduation Exam will be organized into 3 sessions, 1 session shorter than previous exams, including 1 session for literature, 1 session for math and 1 session for elective exams. Candidates will be arranged according to elective exams to optimize exam rooms and scores.

This afternoon, at the exam locations, candidates should check their personal information. If they find any errors in their personal information, they should immediately notify the supervisor or staff on duty at the exam location for timely handling.

Emphasizing that this year's exam has many new points, Mr. Son noted that schools need to calculate backup plans so as not to be passive in situations. "Teaching in class, teachers are free to be creative, but when it comes to exam supervision, they must follow the regulations. Any questions should be asked immediately to the higher-level exam steering committee, not hidden, not fumbled around to handle them on their own," the head of the education sector requested.

The 2025 high school graduation exam will take place over 3 days (June 25, 26, 27), of which June 25 will be the exam registration day, and the backup exam day will be June 28. Nationwide, 1,165,289 candidates have registered to take the exam, an increase of nearly 100,000 candidates compared to 2024.

The exam was held at 2,493 testing locations with 50,039 testing rooms nationwide, mobilizing about 200,000 officials, teachers, employees and functional forces to participate.
