Long An: Welcoming 106 remains of Vietnamese martyrs and volunteer soldiers who died in Cambodia

The remains of 106 Vietnamese martyrs, volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Cambodia were brought back to the homeland by Team K73 (Long An Province Military Command) after nearly 4 months of continuous searching in the provinces of Svay Rieng, Pailin and Battambang.

On the morning of June 26, at Binh Hiep international border gate (Kien Tuong town, Long An province), Steering Committee 515 of Long An province held a ceremony to welcome the remains of martyrs and Team K73 back to the country, ending the mission of searching and collecting the remains of martyrs who died in Cambodia, phase 2, phase XXIV (dry season 2024 - 2025).

Officers and soldiers of Team K73 brought 106 martyrs' remains to the Martyrs' Cemetery in Tan Hung - Vinh Hung district (Long An province)

Before setting out, Team K73 received only more than 70 sources of information and set a goal of collecting about 50 remains.

With "commands from the heart", officers and soldiers stuck to the area, persistently surveyed, overcame difficult terrain and harsh climate, to search for and collect the remains of 106 Vietnamese experts and martyrs.

At the same time, Team K73 closely coordinated with the Military Sub-regions of Pailin, Svay Rieng, and Battambang provinces; propagated and mobilized Cambodian people to provide information, contributing to improving the effectiveness of the collection work.

In addition to its main tasks, Team K73 also carries out mass mobilization work: providing food and free medicine; financial and material support for people; cultural, artistic and sports exchanges, contributing to strengthening the solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia.

At exactly 7 o'clock, Team K73 sent 106 to bring the remains of martyrs, volunteer soldiers and Vietnamese experts who died in Cambodia back to Vietnam.

At the ceremony, Mr. Pham Tan Hoa, Vice Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Committee, praised the sense of responsibility, efforts to overcome difficulties and results exceeding the target of Team K73, emphasizing that this is a meaningful achievement, contributing to easing the pain and showing gratitude to the heroic martyrs.

Mr. Pham Tan Hoa requested Team K73 to urgently report the results to the Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 7, stabilize the organization, propose commendation, rewards and resolve policies for 3 groups and 7 individuals with outstanding achievements in the gathering.

On this occasion, Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 7 and Long An province presented gifts to encourage officers and soldiers; Long An Provincial Military Command commended outstanding collectives and individuals.
