Floods on rivers in Khanh Hoa rise rapidly, forces work through the night to rescue people

(Chinhphu.vn) - On the night of November 18 and the morning of November 19, floodwaters on rivers in Khanh Hoa province rose rapidly. Rescue forces gathered at the 23/10 road checkpoint, ready to rescue people in the West Nha Trang area.

The 9:30 p.m. bulletin of Khanh Hoa Hydrometeorological Station said that the water level at 9:00 p.m. on November 18 at the stations was as follows: On Dinh Ninh Hoa River at Duc My station was 17.55 m, 0.05 m above alarm level 3, at Ninh Hoa hydrological station was 5.32 m, 0.32 m above alarm level 2.

On Cai Nha Trang river at Dong Trang hydrological station is 10.76m, below alarm level 3 by 0.24m, at Dien Phu station is 6.09m, above alarm level 3 by 0.59m, on Cai Phan Rang river at Tan My hydrological station is 36.83m, above alarm level 2 by 0.33m, at Phan Rang station is 2.67m, above alarm level 1 by 0.17m. 2.

It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, floods on rivers will continue to rise and peak in the next 5-12 hours. The flood peak on Dinh Ninh Hoa river at Duc My station will be 0.2-0.5m above alert level 3, and at Ninh Hoa station it will be approximately at alert level 3.

On Cai Nha Trang River, at Dong Trang hydrological station, it is 0.2-0.7m above alarm level 3, at Dien Phu station, it is 0.8-1.1m above alarm level 3.

On Cai Phan Rang River, the flood peak at Tan My hydrological station is approximately at alert level 3, at Phan Rang hydrological station it is 0.4-0.8m below alert level 3.

Warning of areas where flooding may occur in the following wards/communes: Suoi Dau, Suoi Hiep, Dien Khanh, Dien Dien, Dien Lac, Nha Trang, Tay Nha Trang, Bac Nha Trang, Nam Nha Trang; Bac Cam Ranh, Cam Ranh, Nam Cam Ranh, Ba Ngoi, Cam Thinh Dong, Trung Khanh Vinh; Tay Khanh Son, the area is likely to continue to spread. Flood level: from 0.50 to 1.10m, in low-lying areas it may be deeper.

Beware of the risk of flash floods and landslides that may occur in mountainous areas; heavy rains affecting the safety of reservoirs; flooding in downstream areas, riverside areas, and urban areas in the downstream areas of rivers and streams in Khanh Hoa province. Pay attention to safety when traveling through spillway areas.

Ready forces and vehicles to rescue people in the West Nha Trang area

According to Khanh Hoa Hydrometeorological Station, today (November 18), Khanh Hoa province has moderate rain, heavy rain, some places have very heavy rain and thunderstorms. Total rainfall from 7am to 8pm on November 18, in the northern part of the province is generally 50-100mm, some places are higher than 100mm such as Khanh Hiep 376.1mm, Khanh Binh 152.6mm, Ninh Tay 144.6mm; in the southern part of the province is generally from 20-50mm, some places are higher.

It is forecasted that from the night of November 18 to the night of November 20, Khanh Hoa province will continue to have moderate rain, heavy rain, and some places will have very heavy rain and thunderstorms. Total rainfall in the northern region is generally from 100-250mm, in some places over 300mm; in the southern region of the province is generally from 70-150mm, in some places higher. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Warning of the risk of heavy rain (>80mm/3h).

To respond to the rapidly rising flood, at 0:30 on November 19, the rescue force of Khanh Hoa Provincial Police gathered at the 23/10 road checkpoint, recorded rescue requests from people, and was ready to rescue people in the West Nha Trang area.
