Faced with this situation, the provincial leaders have directed relevant departments, branches and localities to review and evaluate the current status of each relic to propose restoration and embellishment plans. This is not only an urgent task but also a responsibility to preserve the historical memory and cultural identity of Dong Nai land for future generations.

Many relics have degraded…

According to Vice Chairman of Bien Hoa Ward People's Committee Truong Vinh Hiep, there are currently 3 relics in the ward. Of which, 2 national relics Long Thien Pagoda and Nguyen Tri Phuong Temple have new facilities due to good preservation, assets and artifacts are still complete; provincial relic Tran Ngoc Du Ancient House has degraded due to carelessness of the caretaker, assets and artifacts have been lost, only the ancient house remains.

In order to preserve and promote the value of relics, the leaders of Bien Hoa Ward People's Committee have requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DCT) to provide guidance and professional support to local officials in the work of preserving relics as well as pay attention to budget allocation, support funding for restoration and embellishment of relics and investment in facilities for cultural works in the ward.

On November 10, Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee HO VAN HA sent a document to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the renovation of Bien Hoa Citadel area into the Citadel Square. The Provincial People's Committee agreed with the proposal of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the renovation, including the following items: Renovation of Bien Hoa Citadel area into the Citadel Square and urgent repair of the Western Ancient House, Eastern Ancient House and the infrastructure of Bien Hoa Citadel Relic according to the plan developed by the Provincial Museum.

Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vu Thanh Ngu said: In the province, there are currently 120 ranked relics (including 6 special national relics, 42 national relics and 72 provincial relics) and 38 relics have been decided in the inventory list. After implementing the 2-level local government model, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue Official Dispatch No. 6684/UBND on the temporary assignment of management and promotion of the value of historical - cultural relics, scenic spots and cultural works in the province.

Currently, some relics in Dong Nai are seriously degraded and need to be preserved and restored. Typical examples include: VK98 Fuel Tank Relic (Loc Quang Commune), on Truong Son Road - Ho Chi Minh Road, which has a serious landslide of the stone embankment, affecting the original elements of the relic; Giao Te House Relic (Loc Ninh Commune) has leaks, water seepage, damaged lighting system and tile roof; Bien Hoa Citadel Relic (Tran Bien Ward) has a 2-storey building in protection area I that is degrading; Thanh An Communal House Relic (Tan Hung Commune) and Doc 31 Victory Site (Loc Ninh Commune) have cracked walls and damaged foundations; Suoi Linh Tunnel Relic (Tri An Commune) has not been restored or embellished.

Urgently survey and assess the current status of degraded relics

At the working session with departments, branches, units and localities on the management of relics in the province on November 3, comrade Le Truong Son, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the Department of Finance, the Department of Construction and related units and localities to urgently establish a team to survey, appraise and evaluate the current status of seriously degraded relics such as: VK98 fuel tank, Tran Ngoc Du ancient house. At the same time, prepare documents and report to the Provincial People's Committee for renovation in accordance with regulations.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Commune People's Committee to estimate the budget for managing historical-cultural relics, scenic spots and cultural works during the temporary management period, and send it to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism for synthesis. The synthesis results were sent to the Department of Finance for appraisal. Based on the synthesis results, the Department of Finance reviewed, appraised and advised the Provincial People's Committee to arrange funds for localities to maintain operations during the temporary management period of the relics.

It can be seen that the preservation and promotion of the value of relics does not stop at the restoration and embellishment work but also requires synchronous and long-term coordination between levels, sectors, units, localities and communities. Many people expect that the degraded relics will soon be revived, returning to a look worthy of their inherent value. Preserving, restoring and embellishing relics today is the way Dong Nai affirms its identity, contributes to educating traditions and creates a foundation for the development of cultural tourism in the province.
