Recently, for the first time, he released his debut LP titled “The Voice - Timeless” with many classic songs, reminding the audience of one of his previous successful musical styles - “Tung Duong sings love songs”.

Listen to Tung Duong sing love songs
Having known Tung Duong for nearly 20 years, witnessing many changes in his musical style as well as his personality, I have found that the release of the vinyl record “The Voice - Timeless” is a necessary next step to complete the massive collection of musical products that he has had in his 20-year career. It is not because it is trendy or to further affirm his already established name with the audience, but as a gift that Duong made for himself and for the audience to resonate with. The album also marks Tung Duong’s return to the classic song genre after a series of very successful albums before.
Talking about the title “The Voice - Timeless”, the male singer said that the album name has the meaning of the parallel of Tung Duong’s voice with timeless love songs. After many experimental and groundbreaking albums in recent years such as “Human”, “Multiverse”... this time, he returns with a delicate, emotional singing style, cherishing the beauty of each sound.
“The Voice - Timeless” brings 8 immortal love songs of Vietnamese music, performed in a polished and elaborate manner. These are also songs that have been loved by Tung Duong's fans for many years. On the background of the carefully composed harmony of musician Hong Kien, Tung Duong both maintains the original spirit and creates new emotional spaces with familiar songs. He sings with personal experience, with contemplation of life and inspirational journeys, bringing about a dialogue between the past and the present, between old values and contemporary feelings.
If “Alone” (Lam Phuong) and “Loneliness” (Nguyen Anh 9) are private narratives, then “Sadness” (Pham Duy - Huy Can) and “The Heart of the Traveler” (Anh Bang) are stories told with sophisticated music, adding a touch of jazz to bring novelty. Meanwhile, “A Private Corner of the Sky” (Ngo Thuy Mien) and “The Footprints of Paradise” (Trinh Cong Son) bring interesting innovations, giving the audience new experiences. With “Lullaby of Sorrows” (Trinh Cong Son) and “Eternal Love” (Pham Duy - Minh Duc Hoai Trinh), Tung Duong brings listeners back to intense emotional flows.
Sharing about “The Voice - Timeless”, Tung Duong said he exploited the emotional depth in the songs with personal experiences about life, love and inspirational journeys over the years. He sang with the calmness, serenity and experience of a man who has matured over time.

Creativity based on respect for the past
Sharing more about the decision to make the album in vinyl format, Tung Duong said that recording an album in analog format is very difficult, each song sometimes has to be recorded 4-5 times. When listening to the disc, sometimes the listener can feel some notes are a bit too fresh or a bit too loose, not as glossy as digital recording, but that is what he wants to keep.
“I want listeners to feel the simplicity and sincerity not only in my voice but also in my emotions and spirit. To express the most simplicity and inner self, I myself have to calm down and concentrate. I consider it a journey back, where the artist temporarily puts aside his unconventional ways to calm down, tell stories with his heart and the simplest things” - Tung Duong shared.
Taking on the role of Music Director of the project is musician Hong Kien. He brings a fresh musical space based on familiar melodies, from gentle semi-classical to a bit of jazz improvisation and funky/soul freedom, so that Tung Duong can comfortably show off his strong voice.
Musician Hong Kien said that making a vinyl record is of course difficult and producing a product for Tung Duong is even more difficult, especially the pressure in choosing songs, arranging and mixing. “Tung Duong’s voice is at its peak at this time, combined with his experience and careful research on music and singing style, it seems like he flies on the arrangements: sometimes harmonious and leisurely; sometimes fierce and varied. Tung Duong is enthusiastic but this time his voice is tolerant, experienced and steps back to clearly see the picture of Vietnamese music through many periods” - musician Hong Kien said.
Along with musician Hong Kien, Tung Duong's debut vinyl album also brings together talented artists such as Thanh Vuong (piano), Trinh Minh Hien (violin), Doan Viet Dung (guitar), Hoang Hai Bang (bass), Le Minh Hieu (drums), Tran Hong Nhung (cello), Trung Dong (trumpet) and the Saigon Strings orchestra. Musician Thanh Phuong is in charge of mixing and mastering.
The album “The Voice - Timeless” is the beginning of Tung Duong’s next new music products. Besides his innovation and desire to experiment, he also wants to bring immortal songs back to contemporary music life in a creative way while still respecting the past values. The vinyl record “The Voice - Timeless” is expected to become a special highlight in Vietnam’s music life, in the context of vinyl products gradually reviving strongly and attracting a large number of music lovers.
