The Central Documentary and Scientific Film Studio has just held a special premiere of the documentary 'The National Anthem Writer', attracting the attention of artists and writers.

With a duration of 115 minutes, the film is directed by Dang Linh and written by Do Huyen Trang. The work has the professional sponsorship of Meritorious Artist Nguyen Quang Tuan and is produced by Meritorious Artist Trinh Quang Tung - Deputy General Director in charge of the Central Documentary and Scientific Film Studio.

The National Anthem writer chose a perspective that was both subtle and truthful, painting a panoramic picture of the late musician's life and multi-talented career. Through vivid frames, viewers witnessed the sublimation of a rare soul, where music , poetry and painting blended naturally.

The film’s appeal lies in its multidimensionality, viewed through the lens of those who knew Van Cao best. Big names such as musician Doan Nho, musician Doan Bong, theorist Nguyen Thi Minh Chau (Vice President of the Vietnam Musicians Association), poet Thanh Thao, singer Anh Tuyet, and the musician’s son and daughter opened up to share never-before-published stories about love, marriage, the silent companionship of family, and the musician’s special relationships in the art world.

Meritorious Artist Trinh Quang Tung expressed his pride when the Film Studio introduced this quality work and created this positive effect.

He affirmed: 'This is a good opportunity and a great pride for the Film Studio to have quality works that create positive effects in the hearts of the audience. The film was fortunate to be licensed by the Cinema Department on November 14, so that it could be premiered on the exact birthday of musician Van Cao'.

Mr. Trinh Quang Tung sees the film as a motivation for the next young directors of the Studio to strive and create more quality works, and at the same time affirms that the Studio always wants to make more films about people who have left their mark and made extremely important contributions to the country, not just in a specific field.

As for director Dang Linh, she shared that the journey to make the film was a difficult challenge. The script was conceived three and a half years ago, and the official production process lasted about a year and a half, with the first six months focusing on in-depth research on the musician, reading documents and listening to his music.

The female director said: 'Musician Van Cao is not an easy subject to exploit. Just thinking about him is difficult, expressing and developing him into a story according to my own ideas is even more difficult. It can be said that he is the most difficult character I have ever approached in my nearly 20 years of filmmaking'.
