• Building a strong and widespread militia force.
  • Strengthening the defensive "shield" from the grassroots level.
  • Building a militia force that is "close to the people, understands the people" and "knows, understands, and is knowledgeable."

Nine decades - A glorious journey of the People's Militia.

On March 28, 1935, the First National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam adopted the "Resolution on Self-Defense Forces," officially marking the birth of the Vietnamese Militia and Self-Defense Force. Over the past nine decades, from its early, difficult days, the Vietnamese Militia and Self-Defense Force has continuously grown and made significant contributions to the cause of national defense and the protection of peace for the people. In peacetime, the Militia and Self-Defense Force is a core force, both directly involved in production and actively protecting production and responding promptly to natural disasters and enemy attacks. Militia and Self-Defense Force officers and soldiers also closely coordinate with local security forces to maintain social order, build strong foundations, and consolidate defense zones. Especially in remote border areas and islands, the image of Militia and Self-Defense Force officers and soldiers working side-by-side with border guards day and night to safeguard maritime sovereignty , islands, and territorial borders becomes even more sacred.

The Ca Mau militia actively cooperates with patrol and guard forces to maintain peace and security in the coastal border area.

Ca Mau province is bordered by the sea on three sides, with a coastline stretching over 300 km and a sea area of approximately 120,000 km2; it comprises 64 communes and wards; and 1,393 hamlets and villages, including 19 coastal and island communes and wards. Assessments indicate that the global and regional situation has continued to be complex and unpredictable, presenting the province with opportunities and advantages but also facing numerous difficulties and challenges. Notably, the increasingly complex challenges of non-traditional security, natural disasters, epidemics, and environmental pollution have, are, and will continue to pose new demands on all levels, sectors, and forces. Therefore, building and organizing a "strong and widespread" militia force is essential, both for socio -economic development and national defense, and as a solid moral support for the people.

Over the past period, the province has paid close attention to and provided comprehensive leadership and guidance in building the militia force, achieving many important results. To date, the militia accounts for 1.02% of the total population; Party members make up more than 24% of the total force. In particular, the organizational structure is tight, rational, and includes all necessary components.

Annually, Party committees and authorities at all levels effectively implement the work of disseminating and educating the public on laws related to the militia; organizing training and instruction according to regulations, achieving 100% of the assigned targets. With a high sense of responsibility, the militia force strictly maintains shifts and duty rosters, organizes patrols and guard duties, and closely monitors the situation. The militia has become a core force in coordinating with the police, border guards, forest rangers, and other forces to protect political security and social order at the grassroots level, protect and prevent forest fires, participate in disaster relief, search and rescue operations, etc., creating peace for people to work and live.
