According to statistics, 6/9 key secondary schools in districts and cities have finalized the number of applications for admission to grade 6 for the 2025-2026 school year before 5:00 p.m. on June 2.
Specifically, the strongest increase was at Vinh Yen Secondary School, with the number of applications this year being 1,848, compared to 1,584 last year, an increase of 264 applications, bringing the school's competition ratio to the highest level of 1/5.13.

Vinh Tuong Secondary School and Yen Lac Secondary School closed the number of successful applications at 824 and 831, respectively, compared to 645 and 663 last year, an increase of 179 and 168 applications. The corresponding competition ratios were 1/3.43 and 1/3.46.
Lap Thach Secondary School also closed the application at 555 - the highest number ever, an increase of 97 applications compared to last year, bringing the competition ratio to 1/2.78.
Although the number of applications for Phuc Yen Secondary School did not increase much compared to last year (669 applications, an increase of 56 applications compared to last year), the competition ratio is still high at 1/3.52.
Currently, there are only 3 key secondary schools that have not yet reached the application deadline: Song Lo Secondary School (deadline 5:00 p.m. June 3, 2025); Tam Duong Secondary School and Tam Dao Secondary School (deadline 5:00 p.m. June 4, 2025). However, all 3 schools have recorded a high number of applications for admission to grade 6.
As of early morning of June 3, Song Lo Secondary School had 420 online applications; Tam Dao Secondary School had 254 online applications. The strongest increase was Tam Duong Secondary School, which currently recorded nearly 900 online applications.
Many attractions and concerns
Explaining the record high increase in the number of applications for the 6th grade competency assessment exam at key secondary schools, many principals analyzed that it was due to subjective and objective reasons.
Firstly, this year, due to the change in the capacity assessment test schedule, each school organizes according to its own schedule, so many 2k14 candidates have their families register for 2-3 schools, so the number of "fake" applications has also increased. Secondly, because families and parents have paid attention, oriented, and invested early for their children to pursue their learning path. Thirdly, due to the conditions and qualityof education and training of key secondary schools that are increasingly improving; communication work has been promoted by schools to create common interest; some schools have invested in building new, modern schools... creating strong attraction.
Mr. Phan Son - Principal of Tam Duong Secondary School said that the construction of the new Tam Duong Secondary School is being completed, expected to be completed in August 2025 and put into use from the 2025-2026 school year, with a total investment of 200 billion VND, an area of 27,000m2.
The project is invested synchronously from playgrounds, training grounds, green tree systems, solar energy (rooftop voltage) to meet the needs by 2028. The school has a scale of 24 theoretical classrooms; 15 subject and multi-functional classrooms with about 840 students; has a stadium, multi-purpose gymnasium, swimming pool; boarding house, canteen; modern library; 350-seat auditorium...
“The new school has spacious and modern facilities, meeting the needs of high-quality learning, creating peace of mind and trust for parents and students. That is one of the reasons why the number of applications for grade 6 at the school has increased dramatically,” the principal shared.
However, many school leaders said that the sharp increase in the number of candidates applying, especially candidates from neighboring areas registering to "experience" and "not miss out", has been putting a lot of pressure on the work of reviewing and organizing capacity assessment tests at the grassroots level.
A representative of Phuc Yen Secondary School said that out of 669 applications, only 646 were valid, meaning they had registered online, submitted transcripts and fees. The remaining 23 applications had registered online but had not submitted transcripts or fees. “If these applications do not submit transcripts by 4:30 p.m. on June 3, the procedures will be considered incomplete,” the school announced.
Leaders of Vinh Tuong and Yen Lac Secondary Schools also said that there are currently many students with permanent residence in districts and cities in the province registering to enroll, so the schools are calculating, arranging, and trying to overcome, especially the physical conditions to be able to organize tests to assess students' abilities safely and effectively at the school. However, after enrollment, to recruit enough students and call students to grade 6 is expected to be a much more complicated problem than the same period last year, when the whole province set the same test session.
