Their sun-tanned, sweat-drenched faces shone with pride, clearly demonstrating their determination to train hard, discipline rigorously, and strive to excellently fulfill their tasks in 2025.

After a march of nearly 100km, the officers and soldiers of Regiment 738 were all present at the training ground. Preparations were carried out urgently, the system of fortifications and battle positions was reinforced, the simulated targets were arranged according to regulations; coordination and command communication were ensured to be smooth.

The B41 gun crew practices firing live ammunition.

After inspecting the entire formation, at the command post, Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Thach That, Commander of the 738th Regiment, solemnly gave the order: "The live-fire test begins." According to the list, each group of soldiers, carrying B41 rifles, received ammunition and quickly moved to their positions. The soldiers' footsteps were strong, their eyes resolute, though a hint of nervousness flickered in the young soldiers. The soldiers carefully loaded the propellant, loaded the ammunition, checked the wind direction, and determined the aiming point. As soon as the command "fire!" was given, a deafening explosion shattered the peaceful mountain forest. The simulated tank target was completely destroyed. Joy was evident on the faces of the unit's officers and soldiers. The experience was quickly passed between the soldiers, so in subsequent firing sessions, the soldiers' actions were more skillful, their postures more stable, their aiming more accurate, and the results were all excellent.

According to our observations, during this inspection, the 738th Regiment was equipped with the SPG-9 gun for the first time. This powerful weapon is specifically designed to destroy fortified positions, bunkers, tanks, and armored vehicles, creating favorable conditions for infantry assaults. Since the beginning of the year, the unit has focused on training to master this new weapon. At the training ground, the SPG-9 gun crew, commanded by Sergeant Lục Hoàng Duy Hảo, Squad Leader of the 82nd Reconnaissance Artillery Platoon, 1st Battalion, took their positions.

Sergeant Lục Hoàng Duy Hảo's command rang out decisively: "Forward, position here, gun crew - gun mount - fire high! Target bunker 01 - armor-piercing round, one shot, reload!"

The soldiers' actions were decisive and precise, and after the resounding explosion, gunpowder smoke obscured the entire training ground, the target completely destroyed. Cheers and applause from the troops dispelled the fatigue after days of arduous training. Lieutenant Le Dinh Cao Nguyen, platoon leader of the 82nd Reconnaissance Ordnance Dispatcher Platoon, said: “As soon as we were equipped with the SPG-9, we compiled appropriate training plans, carefully studied its technical features, and guided each gun crew to operate it accurately. In particular, helping the soldiers trust and confidently master the new weapon was identified as a key factor.”

According to the simulated scenario, "Company 2 attacks the enemy in the southwestern area, at elevation 35" of the Ba Den mountain range." After receiving the order, the Company Commander of Company 2 quickly consulted with the political commissar, developed a battle plan, presented the plan on a sand table, and reported to the battalion commander and the directing staff.

After the plan was approved, the entire company began practicing the attack. Squads and platoons moved secretly, deployed their formations, and coordinated closely between the attacking units. When the signal to fire sounded, simultaneous suppressive fire erupted, and the assault force swiftly approached the target, eliminating the enemy and successfully completing the mission.

Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Thach That affirmed: “After the merger of the provincial armed forces, the unit's training and combat readiness have undergone many changes to suit the characteristics of the area and the requirements of coordination between forces. The unit has intensified the organization of long marches, carrying heavy loads, and training in mountainous and forested terrain to improve the endurance and mobility of the troops. At the same time, the results of this inspection and exercise are an important basis for the unit to learn from experience, continue to improve the command level, combat coordination, and the ability of officers and soldiers to master new weapons and equipment, contributing to the successful completion of training and combat readiness tasks in 2025 and the following years.”
