Flip Side 6: The Fateful Ticket marks another time when director Ly Hai “goes all in” and dares to think and dare to do when he continues to bring to the screen the most realistic and difficult scenes to film. In the new film with an independent script, unrelated to the previous parts, director Ly Hai does not look for comedy, action or horror elements with light entertainment like the previous 5 parts, but instead shifts to a darker, more sensational color.

Thanh Thuc was "terrified" when filming a scene where he had to lie in a coffin for hours.

In the movie Lat mat 6: The fateful ticket , Thanh Thuc plays An - a poor projectionist who has been living precariously with his wife on a boat for ten years. An's dream of having enough money to buy a house to settle down flares up even more after he learns his wife is pregnant. Unfortunately, he is the first person in his group of friends to "disappear" due to a traffic accident caused by drinking too much. An's grave was dug up by his own close friends to find the winning lottery ticket.

Although there were mannequins and stuntmen, to get the best quality footage, actor Thanh Thuc proactively asked Ly Hai to do the scene of lying in the grave himself. The experience of lying in a coffin like a real “dead person” for hours was probably the most unforgettable and haunting moment for Thanh Thuc, because the acting was much more difficult and scary than imagined.

Actor Thanh Thuc shared: “An is a role that left a deep impression on Thanh Thuc. Honestly, up to this point, when I talk about it, I still get goosebumps, not knowing how to explain to everyone the feelings I went through. From the moment I read the script, Thanh Thuc was afraid of this scene, until lying in the coffin with the votive paper that everyone had prepared, wearing the coffin of a dead person, Thanh Thuc's mentality became even more depressed, tense and terribly scared."

Thanh Thuc's fear of this special scene was also recounted by Ly Hai that because of being so scared, Thanh Thuc's face became pale, white, without any blood, looking exactly like a dead person who had been lying in a grave for a long time. However, Thanh Thuc was not overwhelmed by fear and continued to film the scene, accepting to lie in a closed coffin in the pouring rain to bring the most emotional and realistic footage.

48 hours to set up the scene, mobilizing a team of professional grave diggers

It is known that the scene of this gruesome grave digging scene took place in a real cemetery in Dinh Yen village ( Dong Thap ). Most of this cemetery already had graves, only a small piece of land was left, Ly Hai and the crew had to ask for permission and only after receiving the consent of the local government could they start building the scene. After that, he also took the trouble to hire a professional grave digging team to create the shape of the grave.

In addition, because of the continuous spraying of water to create the rain effect for 48 hours a day and night, the grave was often flooded. Every time a scene was cut, the crew of Lat mat 6: Ban ve dinh menh with more than 20 people had to rush in, use buckets and ladles to scoop all the water out of the grave, preparing for the next scene.

Each scene at the cemetery was meticulously crafted to bring a different screen experience to the audience. Not only investing in the setting, Ly Hai also focused on and carefully researched the character's appearance.

The process of making masks identical to actors by artisans

Although it was a wide-angle shot, in order to bring the most thrilling and terrifying moments, Ly Hai hired an artist to cast a mannequin face exactly like the actor. Makeup artists were also mobilized to attach each eyebrow and eyelash to the cast mannequin face. As a result, the mannequin face used for the scene was so realistic that even Thanh Thuc felt "creepy".

Director Ly Hai shared: “The scene where a group of friends dig up their best friend's grave to find a lottery ticket in the cemetery is very terrifying. A group of people happily dance around the grave with their friend's body underneath, clearly expressing the idea that Ly Hai wanted to convey: 'a close friendship, with money, will change immediately'. This is also the scene that Ly Hai is most fond of, hoping that when the audience goes to the cinema, they will watch and feel the distorted humanity in it."

Ly Hai also could not hide his joy when watching the footage that the crew had worked so hard to achieve: "Although it was very hard, after finishing it, Ly Hai felt very satisfied because he could bring the audience such realistic and haunting scenes."
