Take a step back to come back

Since reaching the peak of his career with a world ranking of 231 in November 2022, Vietnam's No. 1 tennis player Ly Hoang Nam has qualified to participate in tennis tournaments in the ATP Tour system. Tournaments at this level attract strong players in the top 150 - 300 in the world, so the tennis player from Tay Ninh has continuously accepted defeat despite his constant efforts.

Poor performance over the past year has caused Ly Hoang Nam to continuously drop in rank and is currently ranked 549th in the world. Therefore, this tennis player has begun to make adjustments, including returning to compete in tournaments in the Men Futures system of the International Tennis Federation (ITF). Thanks to that, at the Thailand international tennis tournament M15 Nakhon Si Thammarat, when competing with opponents of equal level, Ly Hoang Nam immediately affirmed his ability. On the day he turned 27 yesterday, the number 1 tennis player in Vietnam rewarded himself with the men's singles championship when he came from behind to win 2-1 against Dutch tennis player Sander Jong (ranked 599th in the world) in the final. This is Ly Hoang Nam's first international title in 2024, ending his title drought for over a year.

Don't give up on your career dream

This championship trophy in Thailand gives Ly Hoang Nam more motivation to continue pursuing professional tennis, which is full of hardships and challenges. In the immediate future, Ly Hoang Nam will continue to participate in tournaments in the Men Futures system to accumulate points, improve his ranking and maintain his form. He is ready to return to conquer tournaments at higher levels.

In addition to competing, Ly Hoang Nam also combines international training. The recent training trip at the IMPACT Tennis Academy (Thailand) also helped this tennis player improve his physical strength, while also perfecting his technical and tactical skills. He was given the initiative in his training and international competition plans by his club, Hai Dang Tay Ninh , and was well supported financially, so he felt secure in pursuing his passion. The biggest goal that the best tennis player in the history of Vietnamese tennis has set is still to find a ticket to participate in one of the 4 prestigious Grand Slams of the world professional tennis community.

Today, Ly Hoang Nam continues to compete in the M15 Nakhon Si Thammarat tennis tournament (week 3) in Thailand to hunt for more championship titles and accumulate points.
