In that situation, the Ca Mau Newspaper and Radio and Television Station connected with the Ca Mau Lottery Company Limited to receive 60 million VND in support to build a new, sturdy house. The completed project not only replaced the old roof but also brought peace of mind to the elderly couple during the rainy and stormy season.
Many gifts and essential supplies were donated, helping to alleviate the difficulties faced by Mr. and Mrs. Banh.
On the handover day, the family also received an additional 6.5 million VND in cash along with many gifts of essential goods from benefactors. Notably, from the construction support funds, the local authorities saved 5 million VND, which, combined with the donations from benefactors, was used to open a savings account as a precaution in case the grandparents fall ill.
Reporter Hong Nhi from Ca Mau Newspaper, Radio and Television, representing the benefactor, presented a donation of 6.5 million VND to Mr. Tran Van Banh.
Timely support not only helped stabilize their housing but also instilled confidence, helping the elderly couple feel more secure in their old age. Moved on the day they received their new home, Mr. Tran Van Banh shared: “My wife and I are so happy to have a house like this; we never dared to dream of it before. Now we no longer have to worry about the rain and wind. We are very grateful to the government and the community.”
Mr. Nguyen Huu Day (Gia Rai ward) regularly connects with philanthropists to provide financial support, rice, and visits to encourage and support the elderly couple.
Mr. Tran Van Banh's house is one of the projects under the "Safe and Secure Housing" program implemented by Ca Mau Newspaper and Radio and Television in coordination with Ca Mau Lottery Company Limited. Currently, the program is building 4 houses in Dat Mui, Dat Moi, Luong The Tran, and Quach Pham communes, aiming to complete 12 houses in 2026.
