Malaysian police arrested an armed man at a hotel in the capital Kuala Lumpur, accusing him of being an Israeli spy.
Malaysian Inspector General of Police Razarudin Husain said on March 29 that the 36-year-old suspect appeared to have used a fake French passport to depart from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and entered Malaysia on March 12.
Malaysian police are investigating the possibility that the man is a member of Israeli intelligence, saying the suspect changed hotels several times during his stay in Malaysia.

Mr Razarudin said Malaysian police were on high alert following the incident, and had stepped up security measures for King Ibrahim Iskandar, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and other senior officials.
"Given the current situation between Israel and Palestine, we need to be cautious in terms of security," Malaysia's Inspector General of Police stressed.
The Israeli government has not commented on the information.
Malaysia, a majority Muslim country, supports Palestine and has been critical of Israel's campaign in the Gaza Strip. About 600 Palestinian refugees live in Malaysia, according to United Nations figures.
