Amid concerns over the National Digital Identity (ID) Programme, Malaysian Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil said that personal data safety and cybersecurity will always be ensured.
Mr. Fahmi Fadzil said that registering for an ID is also easy, users only need to use MyKad (identification number) and scan their fingerprints for verification. When using the ID, users will be provided with access to online public services and government applications in the future, with just a single login through MyDigital ID.
With the ID, users can open the MyJPJ (Road Transport Department) or MyJalan applications or even the Inland Revenue Board’s MyTax application to deal with necessary public services. After registering for the ID and becoming the first Malaysian to have a digital ID, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stressed that Malaysia must gain the advantage of digital transformation to keep up with current developments, including the use of technology.
