Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated Malaysia on its important achievements, rapid economic growth, becoming one of the top 27 competitive economies in the world; and expressed his belief that with the contribution of the National Assembly, Malaysia will achieve its comprehensive economic development goals under the MADANI Economic Framework.
Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives Dato' Johari Bin Abdul warmly welcomed and expressed his pleasure to welcome Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on the occasion of his official visit to Malaysia; affirming that the first high-level visit since the two countries established the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is of great significance, creating a new impetus to promote strong and substantive bilateral relations, meeting the interests and aspirations of the people of the two countries. The Speaker of the House of Representatives also expressed his condolences on the passing of formerPresident Tran Duc Luong.
Thanking the Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives for his positive assessment of the prospects and vision of bilateral relations, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hoped that the two sides would continue to strengthen political and diplomatic relations, especially exchanges of high-level delegations and all levels, promote security and defense cooperation, and maintain a peaceful, cooperative and development environment in the region and the world.
The Prime Minister emphasized that economics, trade and investment continue to be important pillars of the newly established Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and suggested that the two sides strengthen connectivity between the two economies through implementing ASEAN power grid cooperation, database connection, digital transformation, green economy, and circular economy, which are areas where the two sides have room for cooperation.

Agreeing with the proposals of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives suggested that the two sides strengthen cooperation, ensure food security, and ask Vietnam to support Malaysia in developing agriculture to reduce dependence on external supplies; emphasizing that cultural cooperation, tourism and people-to-people exchange are areas where the two countries have strengths, with many scenic spots likened to paradise on earth, such as Ha Long Bay of Vietnam and Borneo archipelago of Malaysia.
Regarding parliamentary cooperation, the Speaker of the House of Representatives affirmed that he will continue to promote the results of his official visit to Vietnam in October 2024, thereby promoting the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Malaysian House of Representatives; increasing the exchange of high-level delegations, committees, female parliamentarians, young parliamentarians, etc.; sharing information and experience in building and perfecting a suitable legal framework, creating favorable conditions for implementing new contents/areas of cooperation under the framework of the newly established Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The two sides also agreed that the two countries’ parliaments should continue to closely coordinate with other ASEAN countries to promote the set priorities and coordinate their stances at regional and international parliamentary forums. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam highly appreciates Malaysia’s role in assuming the role of ASEAN Chair in 2025 and AIPA 46 Chair, affirming its support for the topics proposed by the Chair./.
