Recently, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) announced the list of 38 players called up by coach Peter Cklamovski to prepare for the match that will decide the ticket to the final round of the Asian Cup 2027. Notably, in this group there are also players who are not in good form such as Junior Eldstal or Nathaniel Shio Hong Wan of Johor Darul Ta'zim Club. Eldstal, who is 33 years old this year, did not play in the national championship and only played 1 match in the Malaysia Cup. Meanwhile, Hong Wan, a player born in 2000, just returned from injury, only had 13 appearances in all competitions.

Coach Cklamovski explained: "I follow the players very closely. For me, the important thing is the intensity of activity and desire. The message I want to send to the players is to always actively improve yourself and the opportunity will come."
The Malaysian team captain understands that to defeat the Vietnamese team - the current AFF Cup champion, relying on form alone is not enough. He needs more experience and enthusiasm, so he decided to call up more old faces and many young players so that the whole team can learn from each other. In particular, calling up to 38 players will also create healthy competition. Each individual will have to be extremely determined, make efforts in every exercise, and be meticulous in every small movement to be able to catch the eye of the Australian strategist.
What notable personnel does the Malaysian team have?
Of course, the Malaysian team continues to put their faith in 3 quality naturalized players: Endrick, Paulo Josue (Brazilian origin), Romel Morales (Colombian origin) and a series of names such as Hector Hevel (from the Netherlands), Gabriel Palermo (Spain), Matthew Davies (Australia), La'Vere Corbin-Ong (Barbados), Quentin Cheng (China), Daniel Ting, Stuart Wilkin, Hong Wan (England), Dion Cools (Belgium), Fergus Tierney (Scotland) and Nooa Laine (Finland). Not stopping there, in a sharing session with the Malaysian media, Coach Cklamovski also revealed that there will be more foreign players joining the Malaysian team soon and the remaining problem is just procedures and paperwork.
Another highlight of this gathering is the presence of Jose Baxter, a former English football prodigy who played for Everton in the Premier League. At the age of 32, Baxter was included in the coaching staff of the Malaysian team with the role of supporting the attacking players in terms of tactics and skills. Having a veteran in the Premier League is a move that shows that FAM is not only looking for good personnel on the field but also investing heavily in the coaching staff, aiming to upgrade their overall level.
The Malaysian team began gathering on May 19, having 3 weeks to prepare for the match against the Vietnamese team. On May 29, they had a friendly match with the Cape Verde team and continued to practice (in private) on June 3. The African representative is ranked 72nd in the FIFA rankings and is considered a "high-dose test", helping coach Cklamovski and his team learn many valuable lessons.
