Masan Consumer (UPCOM: MCH), a member company of Masan Group, has just been announced by S&P Global, the world's leading prestigious rating organization, to have achieved 48 ESG (Environment - Society - Governance) points. This is the highest score among Vietnamese enterprises announced on the S&P Global platform, and surpasses more than 85% of companies in the same fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry evaluated globally.

S&P Global CSA - Global standard in assessing corporate sustainability

S&P Global's Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) is considered one of the world's leading prestigious rating systems, helping businesses link sustainable development with business strategy. Each year, CSA evaluates more than 12,000 global businesses, based on a set of in-depth criteria for each industry, including economic , environmental and social factors. The assessment results not only help businesses determine their position in the field of sustainable development, but also provide important data for global investors and financial funds interested in businesses with long-term sustainable development strategies. This system is also the methodological foundation of prestigious indexes such as Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) and S&P Scored & Screened Indices, reflecting sustainability capacity at the international level.

In the context of ESG increasingly becoming a global standard for sustainable development, Masan Consumer, a member of Masan Group (HOSE: MSN), has just been announced by S&P Global to achieve 48 ESG points in the 2025 CSA assessment.

This result not only helps Masan Consumer rise to the top among Vietnamese enterprises with ESG scores published on the S&P Global platform, but also surpasses more than 85% of companies in the same fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry evaluated globally.

According to the ranking report, Masan Consumer scored 51 points in the Governance & Economic Dimension pillar, higher than 88% of FMCG companies evaluated. In the remaining two pillars, Environment and Social, the company scored 47 points, exceeding 80% and 85% of global FMCG companies, respectively.

The consistent and outstanding scores in all three aspects demonstrate Masan Consumer’s comprehensive sustainable development model, which not only focuses on business efficiency, but also on transparent governance, environmental protection and social responsibility. This is also a clear demonstration of Masan Consumer’s development philosophy of “Doing Well by Doing Good”, creating sustainable growth through positive values for the community and society.

Comprehensive ESG Practices - From Green Manufacturing to Sustainable People

2024 marks an important milestone in Masan Consumer’s sustainability journey, as the company continues to roll out a series of initiatives to reduce emissions and protect the environment. Masan Consumer has converted 65% of its energy consumption to renewable energy sources, while reducing its scope 1 & 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 18% compared to the 2023 baseline. Solar power projects have been deployed at the factory, 100% of diesel forklifts have been replaced with electric vehicles, and more than 80% of waste has been treated or recycled. These actions clearly demonstrate the “green growth” orientation that Masan Consumer is steadfastly pursuing, towards the goal of carbon neutrality in the long term.

In parallel with the goal of reducing emissions, Masan Consumer pioneered innovation in packaging design towards a circular economy, prioritizing the use of environmentally friendly materials and minimizing plastic waste. During the 2023-2024 period, the company tested reducing the weight of plastic preforms for each product bottle, while expanding the use of recycled PET (rPET) while still meeting quality, preservation and transportation standards. In addition, Masan Consumer has completely eliminated polyethylene (PE) film in the packaging of salty products, helping to reduce 21,853 kg of plastic waste per year, saving about VND 659 million and cutting 129.15 tons of CO₂ emissions into the environment.

Another fundamental factor for Masan Consumer’s sustainable development is its internationally-standardized production system. All 13 of the company’s factories are certified to safety, environmental and energy standards such as FSSC 22000, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14064.

People are always at the center of Masan Consumer's development strategy. The company has been honored by Great Place to Work® as an “Excellent Workplace” for three consecutive years (2023-2025), with 87% of employees rating it as an ideal environment to stay and develop their careers. In particular, the proportion of women in middle and senior management positions reached 43%, demonstrating a strong commitment to gender equality and talent diversity.

Sustainable development at Masan Consumer does not stop at product innovation or environmental cost reduction, but is also clearly demonstrated in community programs. In 2024, Masan Consumer allocated more than 25 billion VND for social activities, focusing on education , health, and nutrition, contributing to improving living conditions in many localities.

This is also the foundation for the enterprise to strengthen investor confidence, attract long-term capital and contribute to the increasingly solid position of Vietnamese enterprises on the global economic map.
