Wearable air conditioner

It's a device called Reon Pocket Pro Plus, which uses the Peltier effect to allow an electric current to flow through the junction of two different conductors, creating a warming or cooling effect on the body when worn.

The device, manufactured by Sony, is worn behind the neck and between the shoulders. Because it's placed close to the skin, its position can affect circulation; the air conditioner can lower or raise skin temperature by a few degrees, but it doesn't affect the body's internal temperature.

The product's concept is to help users feel more comfortable when frequently facing traffic jams, sweltering weather while working outdoors, or an overly cold office air conditioning system. Compared to the 2025 version, which was said to be able to cool by up to 13°C, the new model is significantly more effective, cooling by an additional 2°C. It also features a neck strap designed to fit snugly against the body for enhanced temperature regulation.

The Reon Pocket Pro Plus can operate continuously for 5.5 hours at its highest setting after a 2-hour full charge; when used at its lowest setting, the device can operate for up to 34 hours. The device also comes with a temperature and humidity sensor tag that can be attached to a bag to provide information for the Reon Pocket Pro Plus to automatically adjust. Users can control the device using the buttons on the device itself or through the accompanying mobile app.

The Reon Pocket Pro Plus is being sold in select Asian markets, with a list price of $273.
