The new upgraded version of Mazda2 has just been launched in its home country of Japan with changes in both exterior and interior.
Mazda has officially introduced the new facelift version of the Mazda2 2023 in the Japanese market with 5 versions: 15 BD, 15 XD BD, 15 Sport, 15 XD Sport+ and 15 Sunlit Citrus.
As it is only a facelift version, Mazda2 received slight changes in exterior design, mainly focused on the front of the car with a larger grille, a new X-shaped front bumper and a more prominent Mazda badge with integrated radar sensor.
The 15 BD, 15 XD BD and 15 Sunlit Citrus versions are equipped with a nearly closed grille, leaving only a narrow gap on both sides of the Mazda logo. The entire remaining area of the grille will be painted black or the same color as the body. In addition, the grille is surrounded by a pentagon border painted in glossy black and connected to the headlights.
The 15 Sport and 15 XD Sport+ versions are equipped with a separate radiator grille, designed in a sportier style. The radiator grille of these two versions has a mesh pattern and is painted black with red accents.
The remaining change of the Mazda2 2023 is the wheel rims. In the 15 BD and 15 XD BD versions, the car is equipped with two-tone wheel rims, in which the three spokes of the wheel rim are painted the same color as the body. In the 15 Sport and 15 XD Sport+ versions, the wheel rims are a sportier 16-inch aluminum type. The 15 Sunlit Citrus version comes with regular gray rims.
In addition, the 2023 Mazda2 also has two new exterior paint colors: Airstream Blue and Aero Gray. Thus, customers have a total of 9 different exterior paint color options. The roof will be covered with a black film, which not only brings aesthetics but also reduces about 30kg of CO2 emissions. The Pure SP version is equipped with a standard black roof.
The remaining areas on the 2023 Mazda2 retain the same design as before, including the headlights, sides, taillights, trunk door and rear bumper.
Inside the 2023 Mazda2 interior, there are more obvious tweaks. Typically, the 8-inch infotainment screen is larger but still uses the old MZD Connect interface, equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging.
Highlights for the interior space of the Mazda2 2023 are Pure White, Mirror Black or Mint for the Pure trim panels. The Evolve and GT variants have a black interior with red stitching and surrounding air vents.
The Mazda2 GT features partial leather seats, a red and black dashboard, polished dual exhaust tips, and aviation-inspired multi-spoke wheel designs.
Full powertrain and pricing details have not been announced yet, but based on the leaked catalogue, it is likely that the 2023 Mazda2 will be equipped with a 1.5L engine, with a capacity of 104 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque.
In Japan, the 2023 Mazda2 has a selling price ranging from 1,529 - 2,541 million Yen (about 275 - 457 million VND).
