Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe has returned to training after missing the first two matches of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™.

The French striker was all smiles on the Real Madrid training ground on June 23, indicating that he has recovered from his illness and is available to play in the final Group H match against Salzburg on June 27.

Previously, Mbappe missed the 1-1 draw with Al Hilal on June 18th, after being hospitalized earlier this week. The French striker did not travel with the team to Charlotte, North Carolina, to face Pachuca in the early hours of June 23rd.

Coach Xabi Alonso said that Mbappe suffered from severe acute gastritis in Miami, which required him to be hospitalized. After being discharged, he had to stay in a hotel to recover and undergo treatment. The striker had to follow a special diet prescribed by his doctor to speed up the recovery process.

Spanish media reported that Mbappe had lost a significant amount of weight. Therefore, the training session was designed to help him rehydrate, recover his fitness, and return to a stable condition.

Mbappe's return comes at a time when Real Madrid are close to advancing from the group stage and reaching the knockout round. "Los Blancos" are leading Group H with 4 points, level with Salzburg but ahead on goal difference.

To secure their place in the next round, Real Madrid need to avoid defeat against Salzburg. If they lose, their fate will depend on the result of the Al Hilal vs. Pachuca match. As long as Al Hilal doesn't win, Xabi Alonso's team will still advance to the knockout round.
