On the evening of April 23, at the Central Square of Meo Vac District, Ha Giang Province, the Ceremony to announce and receive the title of "Vietnam Heritage Tree" for 4 precious ancient trees including: 1 kapok tree, 2 banyan trees and 1 nhoi tree, all located in Meo Vac town took place. Attending the ceremony were representatives of the Vietnam Heritage Tree Council, leaders of the district, town and many local people.

Leaders of the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment awarded the Certificate of recognition of Vietnam Heritage Tree to the government and people of Meo Vac town.

At the recognition ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Ngoc Hai, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Heritage Tree Council, announced the recognition decision and directly awarded the certificate, marking a meaningful event in the work of nature conservation and promoting the value of cultural heritage in the locality. The honored ancient trees are all between 180 and over 200 years old, 13 to 20 meters high, with a canopy of up to 30 meters wide. Not only do they have special biological value, each tree is also a part of the memories and pride of the people here.

A typical example is the kapok tree in group 2, which blooms bright red every spring, reminding us of the bustling childhood seasons under the village tree roots. Two ancient banyan trees - one located in the sacred Mau Thuong Ngan temple, the other located along the ancient path - are symbols of peace and community cohesion. Meanwhile, the nhoi tree, a native tree of the northern mountains and forests, not only has medicinal value but is also closely associated with the production and religious life of the highland people.

Ancient trees honored as "Vietnam Heritage Trees"

The title “Vietnam Heritage Tree” is an initiative of the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment, aiming to honor ancient trees with biological, historical and cultural values, while raising public awareness in environmental conservation and sustainable tourism development.

Before the recognition ceremony, in a solemn and emotional atmosphere, comrades in the Vietnam Heritage Tree Council together with leaders of Meo Vac district and Meo Vac town directly went to turn over the name plate at each recognized ancient tree. This activity is not only symbolic, but also a sacred moment, marking the official and solemn recognition of the "green witnesses" in the heart of the rocky plateau.

The ceremony is not only an occasion to honor precious natural values, but also contributes to fostering cultural identity and pride in the homeland, Meo Vac, Ha Giang.
