MICE EXPO 2024 is organized under the direction of the Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA), directly implemented by the Vietnam MICE Tourism Club (VMC) with a scale four times larger and many rich activities between sellers and buyers after its first launch in 2023.
This year's event is even more meaningful as it is held on September 27 - World Tourism Day with the message sent by the United Nations Tourism Organization (UNT) to member countries: Tourism and Peace.
According to Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association Vu The Binh, we are witnessing a strong recovery and rapid development of Vietnam tourism. After the COVID-19 pandemic, a series of tourism types have developed remarkably, becoming a bright spot of Vietnam tourism, including MICE tourism - a type of tourism that combines meetings, seminars, conferences, incentives and exhibitions of businesses, companies, and corporations for their staff, employees and partners.
Mr. Vu The Binh assessed: “After COVID-19, MICE has grown strongly, expanded and connected with exploration, relaxation, product creation, enhanced competitiveness, promoted, branded, and become an important type of tourism. In addition to serving the interests of the tourism industry, through providing a variety of services for large and high-cost groups of visitors, MICE also has a positive impact on many other economic sectors.”
With many scenic spots, a rich traditional culture, many cultural heritages, the technical facilities of the tourism industry are becoming more and more modern, the professional level of the workforce of tourism businesses is improving day by day, Vietnam is considered to have enough conditions to become a MICE center of the region and the world.
In order to promote the development of MICE tourism commensurate with the potential and strengths of Vietnam tourism, contributing to the rapid and sustainable development of Vietnam tourism, Chairman of the Vietnam MICE Tourism Club Nguyen Duc Anh affirmed that MICE EXPO 2024 is an opportunity for tourism businesses, service providers, and related parties to meet, exchange information, learn about market trends, products, expand joint ventures, partnerships, and sign cooperation contracts in the field of MICE tourism.
“MICE EXPO 2024 also creates a forum for exchanging visions, assessing opportunities and challenges to develop MICE tourism in Vietnam in a professional, effective and sustainable direction, associated with the green transformation and digital transformation orientation of Vietnam tourism,” Mr. Nguyen Duc Anh shared.
The development of MICE tourism brings many great benefits, from economic, cultural, social and environmental contributions; to positive impacts on foreign affairs; especially the large proportion of contributions to the tourism industry. MICE tourism is a type of tourism with a faster growth rate than other types of tourism.
Strengths of capital tourism
As one of the leading destinations in the country for MICE tourism, from 2022 to 2024, the capital Hanoi has been honored by the World Travel Awards for 3 consecutive years in the category of "Asia's Leading City Destination"; and honored for 2 consecutive years 2023-2024 in the category of "Asia's Leading Short-Term City Destination." In 2024, Hanoi also won the award "Vietnam's Leading Cultural Destination."
In particular, according to Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Nguyen Hong Minh, Hanoi has successfully hosted many important events of national, regional and world scale, notably: US-North Korea Summit, World Economic Forum on ASEAN, 6th Greater Mekong Sub-region Summit, 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, 31st SEA Games and 11th ASEAN Para Games...
“These events not only contribute to promoting the image of the Capital City on the international stage as a center connecting global values, a place to exchange regional and international initiatives for peace, stability and development, but also affirm the capacity to organize international-scale events, an attractive and safe destination for tourists,” Mr. Hong Minh emphasized.
According to the leader of Hanoi Department of Tourism, MICE tourism products are considered the strength of the capital's tourism industry. Therefore, orienting and focusing on developing MICE tourism is the goal of Hanoi's tourism industry.
“In the coming time, Hanoi will continue to promote the development of this type and focus on improving service quality, training human resources, supplementing high-quality facilities and infrastructure, especially focusing on digital transformation, applying technology to activities and promoting communication work to increasingly attract tourists in general and MICE tourists in particular to Hanoi,” the Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism affirmed./.
MICE EXPO 2024 has many outstanding activities. Notably, the trade promotion activity - Business Matching B2B took place on September 27 with the meeting of 150 Sellers who are hotels, cruise ships, destinations, event venues, golf courses, event equipment suppliers, gifts, land tour companies and other organizations and 500 Buyers who are representatives of travel companies, event companies, media companies and other organizations will meet together to discuss products, form large buying groups and sign cooperation contracts... The Vietnam MICE Tourism Development Forum, organized by the Vietnam Tourism Association in collaboration with the Institute for Tourism Development Research on the afternoon of September 27, attracted about 200-300 delegates, including representatives of state management agencies, the Institute for Tourism Development Research, MICE tourism experts, tourism business leaders as well as destination management agencies, media agencies, etc. At the forum, delegates will exchange and discuss solutions to promote the development of MICE tourism in Vietnam, through 3 main topic groups, including: Assessing the role of MICE tourism; Developing MICE tourism destinations and Developing MICE tourism services. In addition, the survey, product development and combination activities of the VMC Golf Cup 2024 are expected to be held in 2 days to survey locations in Hanoi and its vicinity, to build unique, high-end products to create trends in the coming time. In particular, the 2nd VMC Golf Cup will be organized in conjunction with the Fam group to create sports tourism products combined with competitions.
