Microchip Launches MPLAB® Machine Learning Solution Development Kit

MPLAB® Machine Learning Development Suite is the first dedicated solution supporting 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit MCUs as well as 32-bit MPUs for edge-based Machine Learning applications. The software toolkit can be used across Microchip’s portfolio of microcontrollers (MCUs) and microprocessors (MPUs) to quickly and efficiently add ML inference capabilities.

“ Machine learning is now ubiquitous in embedded controllers, and using it at the edge enables a product to be more efficient, secure and consume less power than cloud-based processing systems, ” said Rodger Richey, vice president of Microchip’s Developer Systems business unit.

"Microchip's unique, integrated solution is designed for embedded solution engineers and is the first to support not only 32-bit MCUs and MPUs, but also 8- and 16-bit devices to improve efficiency in product development ."

ML uses a set of different algorithmic methods to manage patterns from large data sets to support decision making. This solution is often faster, easier to update, and more accurate than manual processing.

One example of how this tool is being used by Microchip customers is to support predictive maintenance solutions with the ability to accurately predict potential problems that may occur with devices used in a variety of industrial, manufacturing, consumer, and automotive applications.
