A new AI model from OpenAI is about to launch, with expectations of creating a breakthrough.

DNVN - OpenAI is currently developing a new artificial intelligence (AI) model called Orion. Experts predict that this model will open up many groundbreaking applications in AI, from natural language processing to synthetic content creation.

The Orion model is expected to be introduced by OpenAI in December 2024. According to assessments, this AI model could possess up to 100 times the power of GPT-4 and is considered a major step forward in OpenAI's development of general artificial intelligence (AGI).

However, OpenAI does not plan to roll out Orion widely via ChatGPT right from the start. Instead, it will grant early access to strategic partners, including Microsoft, to help them integrate Orion into their products and services.

Microsoft engineers expect to integrate Orion into the Azure cloud system in November 2024. Although Orion is the next upgrade to GPT-4, it is still unclear whether the official name of this model will be GPT-5.

OpenAI and Microsoft have not yet commented on the above information.

Orion was trained based on the o1 (Strawberry) model and completed its training in September 2024. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman previously revealed Orion in a post on the X platform.

OpenAI is also experiencing changes in its senior management team, with several leaders leaving the company. However, OpenAI recently completed a historic funding round, raising $6.6 billion, and is currently restructuring to achieve its profit targets.

In late August 2024, OpenAI and media company Condé Nast announced a long-term partnership agreement, allowing them to use content from Condé Nast brands such as Vogue, Wired, and New Yorker in their products, including ChatGPT and SearchGPT.

Recently, OpenAI has also signed similar agreements with Time, Financial Times, Axel Springer (owner of Business Insider), France's Le Monde, and Spain's Prisa Media.

These agreements give OpenAI access to the massive text archives of newspapers and magazines, which can be used to train large-scale language models like ChatGPT and support real-time information retrieval.

Founded in 2015, OpenAI has quickly risen to become a shining star in the field of AI. ChatGPT – the company's flagship product launched in 2022 – sparked a wave of AI generative applications, thanks to its ability to generate human-like content with simple commands. Since then, ChatGPT has attracted over 250 million weekly active users, becoming one of the fastest-downloading applications in history.
