Conference scene
In the context of the sharp increase in poultry production in recent years, especially after the outbreak of African swine fever, the issue of food quality and safety has been increasingly concerned by consumers. High cholesterol content in eggs and chicken meat is a factor that potentially poses many health risks. The research team of the Project has developed a feed formula supplemented with herbs such as single needle (Xuyen chi), star anise, cinnamon... and other ingredients such as corn, dried beans, meat and bone meal, rice bran, trace elements... to improve the quality of eggs and chicken meat and reduce cholesterol.
Every day, the farm harvests an average of 20,000 eggs, providing a stable supply to the local market.
Through the process of research and implementation of the model at 03 breeding facilities in Cam Giang commune (former Cam Hoang commune) and Mao Dien commune (former Cam Dong commune) on white Egyptian hybrid chickens for commercial egg laying. After a breeding period of 30 to 65 weeks with herbal supplementation from 1.5 to 2%, it was shown that: Laying rate and egg productivity increased, health of the flock was improved. The analysis results also showed that the cholesterol content in eggs and hen meat at the end of the breeding cycle decreased significantly compared to the control group, the content of NH₃ and H₂S emissions from chicken manure decreased, contributing to environmental protection. Herbal chicken eggs have a higher selling price of 300 - 500 VND/egg compared to regular eggs and are especially popular with housewives, easy consumption increases value for farmers.
The flock of 25,000 chickens of Mr. Dao Van Thuyen's household in Viet Hoa ward is cared for with herbal mixed feed, completely without using growth-promoting antibiotics.
The topic has high practical scientific value, opening up a new direction in applying herbs in safe livestock farming, improving public health and developing agricultural economy in a sustainable direction.
