The purpose, significance, and timeline of the 2026 General Census are specific and clear. Therefore, along with the rest of the country, Lang Son province quickly began implementing comprehensive solutions to carry out the census, ensuring the set progress and quality.
Let's get started.
Recognizing the significant importance of the 2026 Census, the Provincial People's Committee has directed relevant agencies to implement comprehensive solutions. Ms. Le Thi Van Anh, Acting Head of the Provincial Statistics Department, stated: In fulfilling its assigned tasks, the Provincial Statistics Department has proactively advised the Provincial People's Committee to establish a Steering Committee and a plan for disseminating information about the 2026 Census; organized professional training; recruited enumerators; coordinated with relevant agencies and units to promote awareness of the 2026 Census; and implemented other related activities and tasks.
Accordingly, the Provincial Statistics Department organized 17 training courses at the provincial and local levels on the work of compiling lists. Following the training, the Provincial Statistics Department coordinated with departments, agencies, and the People's Committees of communes and wards to review and record information for the survey units of individual production and business establishments, religious and belief organizations (931 people were recruited to collect information, compiling lists for nearly 30,000 individual production and business establishments, 50 cooperatives, and 128 religious and belief organizations).
In addition, the Provincial Statistics Department organized professional training; coordinated the dissemination of information through various forms such as: hanging banners and slogans promoting the 2026 Economic Census at residential areas; disseminating information through mass media and social networks; and conducting direct outreach during the data collection process… At the same time, in phase 1, the Provincial Statistics Department recruited 205 official and reserve enumerators and 65 team leaders to implement the data collection for the 2026 Economic Census.
After completing the necessary preparations, on January 7, 2026, the Provincial Steering Committee for Economic and Social Census launched the 2026 Economic and Social Census. In phase 1, it is expected that relevant units will collect information from over 30,000 individual production and business establishments, cooperatives, and religious and belief establishments.
Thanks to thorough preparation by the statistical agency and intensified public awareness campaigns, many businesses subject to the 2026 census have fully grasped the information, thereby cooperating closely with relevant units in carrying out the census. Ms. Dinh Thi Lan Phuong, a business owner on Tran Hung Dao Street, Luong Van Tri Ward, said: "Initially, when I heard the word 'survey,' I, as well as some other business owners, had concerns and worries. However, after being specifically informed about the purpose and significance of the 2026 census, I felt reassured and actively cooperated with the enumerators to collect information quickly and effectively."
We are currently in the early days of the 2026 Economic Census. We are confident that with the close guidance of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Steering Committee for the Economic Census, the proactive efforts of the statistical agencies, and the close coordination of relevant levels and sectors, the 2026 Economic Census in the province will achieve positive results. This will ensure the completion of the survey according to the national and provincial plans, while also providing crucial data to effectively meet the requirements of management, administration, and policy planning for socio-economic development of the country and the province in the coming years.
