Mohamed Salah makes history with double Premier League title

TPO - Mohamed Salah has ended a magical season by winning the Premier League's most prestigious individual double: Top scorer and Top assist, while breaking the record for total goals and assists in a 38-match season.

The Egyptian star scored 29 goals and made 18 assists, contributing greatly to Liverpool winning the championship in his first season under coach Arne Slot.

In the scoring race, Salah is far ahead of the second-placed Alexander Isak (Newcastle) with 23 goals. In terms of assists, he is also superior with 6 more assists than Jacob Murphy (Newcastle).

At 32, Salah became the first player in Premier League history to win the Premier League's top scorer, top assist and player of the season in the same season. He was also named the Football Writers' Association (FWA) Men's Player of the Year.

This is also the fourth time Salah has won the Premier League Golden Boot, equaling the record of Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

Salah also became the first player in history to complete the Golden Boot and Golden Assist double twice, after the first time in the 2021/22 season. Previously, only three names had done the same but only once: Andrew Cole (1993/94), Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (1998/99) and Harry Kane (2020/21).

His 84th-minute strike in the 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on the final day of the season helped Salah equal the record for the most goals scored (47) in a Premier League season.

Previously, Alan Shearer (1994/95) and Andrew Cole (1993/94) each scored 34 goals and had 13 assists, but in a 42-game season, 4 more than now.

“It’s unbelievable. It’s been a fantastic season. This victory, this trophy, we dedicate it to the fans,” Salah told Sky Sports, full of emotion. “Last time, we didn’t have the chance to lift the trophy in front of our home crowd. Today, to do it at Anfield is an unforgettable feeling. For this club, it really means a lot.”
