Morgan said Messi acted similarly to Ronaldo but did not get a red card.

At Aviva Stadium, Ronaldo was sent off in the 61st minute after Dara O'Shea pulled his shirt. While reacting, CR7 swung his arm at his opponent, causing O'Shea to fall and receive a red card from the referee.

Immediately after the match, Morgan protested on social media. On X , he wrote: "It's ridiculous that Ronaldo was sent off just because he brushed his hand away when someone pulled his shirt."

Not stopping there, Morgan also shared a video of Messi colliding with an MLS player, in which the Argentine superstar also swung his arms during the scuffle. Morgan asserted: "Messi did exactly that recently but no one did anything about it."

The British journalist also reposted another video from 2021, showing O'Shea colliding with Ronaldo in a World Cup qualifier. Morgan sarcastically said: "It turns out O'Shea has a history of deliberately provoking Ronaldo and then falling like a swimmer to get a card."

However, Morgan's argument received mixed reactions. Many people thought he was linking Messi to an unrelated story. One account commented: "Just because Ronaldo was sent off doesn't mean Messi has to be involved." Others emphasized that Messi's tackle was just a normal dispute, while Ronaldo's swing hit the middle of his opponent's back.

Besides the controversy, Morgan and Ronaldo continue to attract attention with a new conversation, in which CR7 confirmed that the 2026 World Cup will be the last major tournament in his career.
