Some 10th grade entrance exams in Hai Phong show signs of irregularities.

The Inspectorate of the Ministry of Education and Training has just announced the conclusion of the inspection of the direction and implementation of the enrollment regulations of the Hai Phong Departmentof Education and Training regarding the grading of the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year.

Accordingly, some examiners did not fully understand the regulations, causing errors in the scoring process. The scoring report did not have a column for recording the total score/number of score types, making it difficult to compare when entering, leading to the risk of errors in the score entry process.

In the essay marking section, the Head of the marking team did not assign the examiners seats to mark the test papers, and did not write the diagram on the board according to regulations. Some examiners in round 1 still exchanged information while marking independently. Some examiners did not follow the essay marking process correctly. Specifically, there was a phenomenon that examiner 1 wrote on the candidate's test paper; examiner 2 did not write the score in the margin according to regulations but wrote on each sentence on the candidate's test paper.

In the Literature subject, examiner 2 did not score the individual parts according to the answers but only scored the total score for the entire question. Examiner 1 crossed out the student's mistakes in red pen and directly scored the small ideas in the margins on the student's test. The unified score sheet of examiner 1 and examiner 2 was not included according to regulations.

When checking the probability of some exams of some subjects marked on June 12 and June 13, it showed that the examiners did not follow the correct procedure, and some exams showed signs of irregularities.

The inspection team recommended that the Examination Council and the Department of Education and Training of Hai Phong review the history exams (specialized), other subjects (especially exams with signs of irregularities) and handle and resolve them according to regulations.

Hai Phong Department of Education and Training then issued report No. 771/BC-SGDĐT on the implementation of this content according to regulations.

Speaking more about the "irregularities" in the marking of the exams, the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Education and Training said that when the inspection team carried out their work, they discovered some unusual signs such as in the exam, candidates were writing straight lines but suddenly wrote italicized lines. There was a case where the first letter in the exam was capitalized in a fancy style. In addition, some candidates wrote one line apart or used a pencil to underline some words...

The inspection team made recommendations to the Examination Board and the Department of Education and Training of Hai Phong. These recommendations were accepted by implementing joint marking of papers with signs of irregularities to have the most objective and comprehensive assessment.

The Inspector of the Ministry of Education and Training assessed that the Examination Council worked seriously, responsibly and receptively. The activities of the Examination Council were ensured to be serious, with only a few limitations and errors, but they were soon overcome.
