Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan expressed her joy at her first official visit to Mozambique and thanked Prime Minister Adriano Maleiane for the warm welcome given to the delegation.

The Vice President respectfully conveyed the regards of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to the Prime Minister of Mozambique.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to the traditional friendly and cooperative relationship with Mozambique, identifying Mozambique as one of Vietnam's key cooperative partners in Africa.

For his part, Prime Minister Adriano Maleiane also affirmed that Mozambique always considers Vietnam one of its top priority partners in Asia.

The two leaders expressed their delight at the positive progress in bilateral relations in recent times. The two sides maintained delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels, especially at high levels, and through all channels, including the Party, State and National Assembly.

The two sides successfully held the 4th Meeting of the Vietnam-Mozambique Intergovernmental Committee in May 2023 after a 9-year hiatus.

Telecommunications cooperation with the Movitel joint venture (a telecommunications joint venture between Vietnam's Viettel Telecommunications Group and Mozambique's SPI Company) and cooperation in developing Vietnamese food crops in Mozambique have become bright spots in bilateral relations.

Cooperation in the fields of trade, education-training, health care, etc. has also seen encouraging progress.

However, agreeing that the cooperation results have not yet matched the great potential of both sides, the two leaders discussed and agreed on major orientations and measures to deepen bilateral cooperation.

In terms of politics and diplomacy, the two sides agreed to actively implement the results of the phone call between General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the Chairman of the FRELIMO Party and the President of Mozambique in June 2022 and the 4th Meeting of the Bilateral Intergovernmental Committee in May 2023; promote delegation exchanges and high-level contacts; and actively support each other at regional and multilateral forums.

In terms of economy, the two leaders expressed their determination to further increase bilateral trade turnover to match the demand of the two countries' 130 million-people market by creating more favorable conditions for each country's key products to penetrate each other's markets; encouraging businesses of the two countries to cooperate, including Movitel, to expand investment and business in Mozambique.

The two sides also agreed to continue to consider agriculture, including aquaculture, as a key area of cooperation to contribute to ensuring the world's food supply chain and security.

The Mozambique side proposed a number of new areas of cooperation, including asking Vietnam to use its experience to cooperate and invest in developing infrastructure and transportation in Mozambique.

The Vice President suggested that the two sides strengthen mineral cooperation. The Mozambique side agreed and committed to promoting the early signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Coal Trade with Vietnam.

Mozambique proposed increasing the number of scholarships, enhancing cultural exchanges, promoting cooperation in combating transnational crimes and protecting wildlife.

The Vice President acknowledged and suggested that both sides effectively implement the signed agreements in the above-mentioned fields, and said that Vietnam will actively consider increasing scholarships for Mozambican students to study in Vietnam.

On this occasion, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan conveyed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's invitation to the Prime Minister of Mozambique to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time.
