Rain

This season, the sky is cloudy all day long, making it impossible to predict when it will rain. As a result, the weather is pleasantly cool and overcast, typical of autumn. The wind is also gentler these days, occasionally sweeping by with a slight chill, rather than blowing fiercely like before.

Some people jokingly say that all that's missing is flower carts and falling golden leaves to truly represent Hanoi's autumn. It seems that leaves don't fall in autumn in this region; they always look vibrant and full of life, especially on rainy days.

Rain. Rain. Rain.

This land is characterized by only sunshine and rain. When it's sunny, it's scorching, cracking the fields. When it rains, it pours down day after day, seemingly unwilling to stop. The rain this season comes quickly and suddenly. The trees rejoice at the rain. The rain washes away the dust from their leaves, whispering words of tender love, so after the rain, the leaves seem to be even more vibrant. The rain patiently scrubs each leaf, singing and telling stories as it washes, so the sound of the rain is sometimes a roar, sometimes a gentle patter. The rain is like a mother pouring all her love into her child, caring for it meticulously, hoping it will grow quickly each day. The tree receives the love of Mother Rain, sprouting vibrant green shoots and growing rapidly.

In this world, is there any love more boundless than a mother's love, any sound more poignant than the sound of rain? Rain is a mixed melody, sometimes heroic, sometimes gentle, sometimes mournful, sometimes soft. The wonder is that each person hears a different melody, their own unique tune. Some hear the rain and suddenly remember old memories, feeling sad and shedding tears. Others find the gentle melody lulling them to sleep. Still others find the sound of rain falling on tin roofs jarring and irritating… Rain is just rain, it doesn't please anyone. Rain plays its own melody, not caring whether the listener likes it or not. Rain is a talented and individualistic musician, gentle yet rebellious.

Rain makes people rush home, making them long for a warm evening meal with loved ones. Rain makes wives nestle against their husbands' shoulders for warmth, makes lovers hold hands tightly, hoping to share more warmth with each other. Rain makes kisses warmer, makes eyes burn with passionate fire.

Rain also softens the heart, washing away the envy and resentment of life. It seems that rain soothes the world, bringing everyone closer together. Clouds descend closer to the ground. Trees huddle closer to each other. People draw closer, becoming more empathetic. Isn't that why the old lottery ticket vendor gave her thin raincoat to the two sisters who were sheltering from the rain nearby? Warmth is only truly felt when it's cold. Compassion is only warmer when people give without expecting anything in return.

Under the eaves of the house, two sparrows huddled together seeking warmth. They would occasionally tuck their beaks into each other's, cooing softly, encouraging each other to persevere as the rain was about to stop. After a short while, the cooing ceased, and they drifted off to sleep, perhaps dreaming of a sunny tomorrow when they could spread their wings and soar in the clear blue sky.

After the rain, raindrops still clinging to the leaves pattered and playfully danced in the puddles that hadn't yet soaked into the ground. The trees, relying on the gentle breeze, shook off the remaining water droplets. The leaves stretched out, fresh and vibrant after being washed clean. Suddenly, the setting sun cast its last rays, revealing a large, clear rainbow on the western horizon. The children excitedly rushed out into the yard, splashing water and admiring the rainbow. Their clothes and hair were soaked, and their shouts echoed throughout the small village, dispelling the usual quiet.

It seems like everything looks fresher and more vibrant after the rain!
