Thunderstorms and strong local winds caused 50 hectares of corn to fall in Phong Tho commune.

On the night of August 1, in the border area of Phong Tho commune, thunderstorms and strong winds occurred locally, causing damage to many areas of people's crops.

According to preliminary statistics, there are currently 75 households in Nhieu Sang, Lang Vay 1, Lang Vay 2 villages that have suffered heavy losses. About 50 hectares of corn that were about to be harvested were flattened, seriously affecting productivity and output. The estimated value of the damage is over 2 billion VND.

Many areas of corn ready for harvest have been completely destroyed.

Currently, local authorities and Huoi Luong Border Guard Station are coordinating to check and count the damage.
