Located along Vo Nguyen Giap road, also known as route 706B, the coastal grassy hill area is becoming a familiar destination for local youth and tourists. Just turning off the roundabout towards 706B, visitors immediately enter a wide-open space characteristic of the South Central coastal region. On one side is the endless blue sea, and on the other, vast golden grasslands nestled between undulating sand dunes.

Mr. Huu Tuan, a resident of Phu Thuy ward and a freelance photographer in Phan Thiet, said that he and his group of friends often go up the grassy hills during this season to "hunt for the sunset".

According to him, the light at 706B changes noticeably between morning and afternoon. The morning sun is bright, gentle, and soft, ideal for photos with cool tones; the afternoon sun is golden, creating a shimmering, luminous effect on hair and facial features. “The afternoon light is the most beautiful, especially about 30 minutes before sunset. Visitors should arrive a little earlier to prepare and choose a good spot,” Tuan shared.
Young people really enjoy coming to this place.
Interestingly, this area lacks any artificial landscaping for photo opportunities, yet its natural beauty creates a unique charm. Many young people call the grassy hills on either side of Highway 706B the "outdoor film set of Phan Thiet," because you can find a beautiful photo spot from almost anywhere. Sunlight filtering through the foxtail grass, the vibrant clumps of wildflowers, or the horizon embracing the sea all create emotionally rich scenes.

The grassy hill to the right of Route 706B has a more rugged terrain, stretching across varying sand dunes. This is an ideal spot for capturing backlit photos, with sunlight filtering through the blades of grass creating beautiful streaks of light. Meanwhile, the grassy hill to the left is softer, with many types of grass such as marigolds and foxtail grass, and a flat surface, suitable for groups of young people wanting to take landscape photos or set up a small picnic. The afternoon sun shines sideways, making the grassy areas on the left shimmer with golden light filling the entire space.

Ms. Linh Phan, a resident of Phan Thiet, shared that the grassy hill takes on a unique appearance each year. “One year I captured a beautiful picture of a solitary tree, but the next year it was gone. The grassy hill changes constantly with the weather, the seasons, and the influence of nature. Therefore, every photo taken here becomes a unique moment,” she said.
For her, what made 706B memorable wasn't just the beautiful scenery, but also the feeling of sitting in a spacious area, sipping her coffee, listening to the wind, and waiting for the sunset.

Many tourists visiting Phan Thiet recently have been scheduling a visit to 706B on their first or last day of the trip. Some invest in hiring local photographers for professional photos; others simply bring their phones and still manage to capture many poetic moments.
Getting to the grassy hills is also very convenient: just drive a motorbike or car along the Mui Ne – Vo Nguyen Giap road, and you'll see stretches of golden grass on either side. Many sections have trails, allowing visitors to safely park and walk in.
Not only for photography enthusiasts, the 706B grassy hill is also suitable for "slow living" trips – where visitors can temporarily forget the busy pace of life and enjoy the fresh air.
According to experienced photographers, the best time to take photos on the grassy hills is from around the end of November until after the Lunar New Year. During this time, the weather in Phan Thiet is stable, with little rain, gentle sunshine, and the grass reaches a beautiful golden hue. This is also the season chosen by many young groups, couples, and tourists who love taking photos.
