Wanting to avoid paying for drinking, young man reports being beaten to police

On October 9, Duc Pho Town Police, Quang Ngai Province announced that they had just issued a decision to administratively fine NTH (27 years old, residing in Pho Ninh Ward, Duc Pho Town) for the act of "Reporting false and untrue information to competent agencies and organizations", with a fine of 2.5 million VND.

According to the case file, in the early morning of September 3, NTH went to Duc Pho Town Police to report that H. and 2 friends had gone to sing and drink at a karaoke bar in the area. When he returned home first, he was detained by the bar's staff, beaten, and lost 27 million VND.

Duc Pho town police organized forces to verify, collect related documents and evidence and determined that H. reported fake news.

H. confessed that he had no money to pay for the karaoke and drinking at the bar, so he left early. When he climbed over the bar's B40 mesh fence to escape, he was discovered by the bar's staff. The bar's staff kept H.'s cell phone with the intention of asking him to pay for the karaoke and drinking.

Angry about this, H. went to Duc Pho town police to report that he had been beaten and lost 27 million VND so that the police could investigate. His purpose was to get his cell phone back and not pay the money he had paid for karaoke and drinking at the bar before.
