Forbes magazine has just announced the list of world billionaires in 2023, in which Vietnam has 6 representatives.
The six familiar USD billionaires include Vingroup Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong, VietJet Air CEO Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Hoa Phat Chairman Tran Dinh Long, Techcombank Chairman Ho Hung Anh, Thaco Chairman Tran Ba Duong and Masan Chairman Nguyen Dang Quang.
According to Forbes, as of April 5, 6 Vietnamese billionaires had assets worth 12.9 billion USD, "evaporating" 8.3 billion USD compared to last year.
This year, Mr. Bui Thanh Nhon, Chairman of Nova Group, is no longer on the list after 1 year of joining because NVL shares plummeted from over 80,000 VND/share to 12,000 VND/share, causing Mr. Nhon's assets to decrease sharply.
Back to the rankings, Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong is still in the top position with an estimated net worth of 4.6 billion USD, and is also the 586th richest person in the world. However, Mr. Vuong's assets are nearly 2 billion USD lower than at the end of last year (in 2022, his net worth was 6.2 billion USD).
Standing in the remaining positions in this year's ranking include Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao (2.3 billion USD - ranked 1,318 globally); Mr. Tran Dinh Long (1.8 billion USD - ranked 1,637 globally); Mr. Tran Ba Duong (1.5 billion USD - ranked 1,874 globally); Mr. Ho Hung Anh (1.5 billion USD - ranked 1,876 globally) and Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang (1.2 billion USD - ranked 2,194 globally).
