Hai Phong Student Do Dang Gia Khiem was helped by a supervisor to copy his 10th grade exam papers in a private room with a recording device, camera and security surveillance, due to a broken arm.
On the afternoon of June 1, Mr. Pham Quoc Hieu, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Hai Phong, said that this is applied according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training for high school graduation exams. The equipment in the exam room will be inspected by the city police this afternoon.
"We create conditions for students because otherwise it would be a waste of their 9 years of study, but we still ensure compliance with regulations," said Mr. Hieu.
Ms. Ngo Thi Thuy Hue, Principal of Bach Dang Secondary School, said that Do Dang Gia Khiem, a 9A1 student at the school, will take the exam at Tran Nguyen Han High School Examination Council. He broke his right arm in an accident on May 17 and has not been able to write yet. Ms. Hue assessed that this option is humane and will help Khiem stabilize his psychology.
This morning, Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Uyen, Khiem’s parent, took her child to the examination council, listened to instructions and checked in. The family also signed the minutes agreeing to the Department’s support plan. From tomorrow, after finishing each subject’s exam and carefully reading it, Khiem will mark the test before submitting it.
"I am very touched to be given this opportunity. I will try my best to get good results so as not to disappoint the teachers' help," Khiem said.
Ms. Uyen said that before that, the family was very worried and considered asking the doctor to give her child a pain-relieving injection so that she could take the exam. However, the doctor warned that this could cause her child's hand to become disabled. Until yesterday, Khiem still wanted to take the risk of taking the exam this way.
"But now that I have heard the announcement directly and know for sure that the teachers will support me, I am very happy and excited. When I get home, I feel secure and continue studying," said Ms. Uyen.
In addition to Khiem, the city has two other students receiving similar support, according to Mr. Hieu. The remaining two candidates are from the Le Hong Phong and Dong Hoa high school examination councils.
