Twice a week, 16 members of the Purple Ban Flower Club in Quynh Nhai commune practice dance performances to improve their health and prepare for activities in the commune. The beautiful traditional costumes of the Thai ethnic group, the gentle and graceful movements to the sound of the Tinh lute, create a performance imbued with the national cultural identity that impresses the audience.
Ms. Lu Thi Xo, Head of the Purple Ban Flower Club, shared: I used to work in the arts industry so I have experience in staging dances, especially Thai dances with props such as scarves, conical hats, xoong and đàn tính, má hinh. Club members also contribute their own funds to perform in many places such as Mai Son commune, Moc Chau ward, Chieng Coi and Lai Chau and Dien Bien provinces. Participating in arts helps us improve our health and spirit.
In Thao Nguyen ward, the cultural and artistic movement in the women's association has developed vigorously with more than 50 art and sports teams and clubs actively operating. Ms. Khuc Thi Hong Yen, Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, President of the ward's Women's Union, said: Every year, the Association organizes folk dance competitions and sports tournaments on the occasion of March 8 and October 20, creating a playground for members to exchange. Many art teams also perform Thai, Mong and Dao ethnic dances at community tourism sites, contributing to preserving and promoting local cultural identity.
The province currently has more than 2,300 women's associations maintaining sports and cultural activities. From 2021 to present, 11,589 exchanges and discussions have been organized, attracting more than 741,000 cadres, members and women to participate. Every year, the Women's Working Committee (Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province) directs the organization of activities to celebrate major holidays, March 8 and October 20.
Ms. Quang Thi Van, Permanent Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union, Head of the Women's Affairs Committee, said: The Committee has directed the grassroots associations to promote the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" and the movement "Each grassroots association maintains a form of culture and sports". At the same time, encourage the establishment of self-managed sports clubs, suitable to the needs of members; increase socialization, organize many exchange and performance activities for grassroots associations to learn and exchange experiences...
In the province, there are many modern art and sports clubs and teams suitable for each group of women such as football, dancing, yoga, aerobics, health care, folk dancing, volleyball, etc. The clubs mainly contribute their own funds to purchase costumes, props, and training tools. The teams also focus on improving performance and sports skills in a professional manner to serve the community, while discovering and nurturing talented individuals to participate in activities at the grassroots level.
Cultural and artistic activities of women's association members at the grassroots level are effectively maintained through many models and clubs such as: "The beauty of the Pieu scarf", "Ancient Thai Culture of Muong Vat" Club (Yen Chau commune), "Thai ethnic culture" Club (Muong Bu commune), women's group singing and using traditional musical instruments (Phieng Cam commune)... Thereby contributing to the preservation of traditional cultural values such as Thai xoe dance, Khang and Kho Mu ethnic dance, and folk games: pao throwing, con throwing, swallow fighting, crossbow shooting... with women playing the core role.
Promoting cultural, artistic and sports activities has contributed to improving the health, spiritual life and positive lifestyle of female cadres and members. This is an effective way to attract and gather members, propagate the Party's policies, the State's policies and issues related to women; at the same time, create a healthy playground, promote individual talents and strengthen solidarity.
