Starting from the desire to find a new direction for the family economy , Mr. Tan researched and decided to plant more than 1,000 Buddha's hand banana trees. This is a banana with a special shape, belonging to the banana family, each bunch has many bunches, the bunches spread out like clasped hands. Thanks to its unique appearance and feng shui meaning, Buddha's hand bananas are favored by many people, especially during holidays and Tet. Mr. Tan said: This banana variety is spiritual, very beautiful to display, yellow when ripe, very delicious to eat. Compared to other banana varieties, Buddha's hand bananas can be stored longer, have thick, beautiful skin, do not drop fruit and that is also the potential of this banana variety.
Mr. Le Van Tan's banana garden is ready for harvest.
According to Mr. Tan, compared to traditional banana varieties, Buddha's hand bananas are not too difficult to grow, have few pests and diseases, and are suitable for local climate conditions. On average, each banana tree will be harvested after about 9-10 months. Each bunch can be sold for 500,000 VND or more, much higher than regular bananas. Mr. Tan added: "Buddha's hand bananas are as easy to grow as bananas, the tree will still grow naturally. To achieve high economic efficiency, you must pay attention to taking care of the leaves because they are prone to fungus, and when fruiting, they are prone to aphids and aphids, so you need to spray pesticides promptly to prevent them; the main fertilizer is manure and enough watering is enough."
Currently, his banana products are not only consumed within the province but are also purchased by traders from many places. To meet market demand, Mr. Tan continues to expand the area, improve planting techniques, and enhance product quality. According to Mr. Tan, in addition to growing and selling bunches, he also sells seedlings. This banana variety sells well, so he continues to expand the planting area by 2 more hectares.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Cuong, a trader in Binh Duong province, said: I went to Mr. Tan's garden to buy bananas and seedlings to sell. Many customers prefer this type of banana to display in their homes as feng shui, symbolizing peace and luck. In addition, coffee shops and restaurants also buy it to plant as decoration, creating a cool green space, especially during the peak of holidays and Tet, the demand is even higher.
With determination and innovative thinking, Mr. Tan has chosen a suitable farming model to increase his family's economic income. Mr. Tan's model of growing Buddha's hand bananas is also opening up a new direction for many farmers. However, to develop sustainably, it is necessary to have a stable production strategy and expand the consumption market.
