Sun Group received a “double” Gold award at the 4th National Urban Planning Award

Sun Group Corporation was honored to receive two Gold Awards at the 4th National Urban Planning Award (VUPA 2024) which took place at Ho Guom Theater, Hanoi on June 22, 2025.

Out of more than 100 entries in 6 categories, two planning projects ofSun Group Corporation including: Detailed planning 1/500 of Cat Ba Central Bay Tourism and Commercial Service Area (Green Central Bay City Island) and Sun Urban City Resort were awarded the Gold Prize by the Jury Council, under Category A for Construction Planning Projects.

Accordingly, the 1/500 detailed planning of Cat Ba Central Bay Tourist and Commercial Service Area (Hai Phong) shows harmony, following the unique natural terrain, while still showing the layout of the landscape architecture space according to feng shui inspired by the "Four Symbols". The VUPA 2024 Award Council commented that the 1/500 detailed planning project of Cat Ba Central Bay Tourist and Commercial Service Area was developed based on a green philosophy, in absolute harmony with nature and enhancing the value of the heritage land.

As the first project developed by Sun Property (a member of Sun Group) in Cat Ba, Green Island Central Bay City is a place where green inspiration covers everything from planning, architecture, construction materials to internal traffic, contributing to making Cat Ba an attractive ecological destination on the Northern resort tourism map, the first "Net Zero" tourist island in Vietnam.

With a scale of nearly 50 hectares, the project plan impresses by dedicating nearly 60% of the area to green space, public space such as a nearly 1km long beach, squares, parks, canals running through the project... The works in the project are planned in accordance with the unique terrain of the island, with a gentle sloping elevation, the sea in front, the hillside behind, surrounded by mountains, to maximize the advantages of feng shui, helping every place in the project have a view of the sea.

According to the assessment of the expert council, this is one of the few coastal planning projects that fully meets the criteria of harmony between development and conservation, with the potential to realize the sustainable tourism development strategy of Hai Phong and the Northern region.

Meanwhile, Sun Urban City Resort (Ha Nam) shows the spirit of the times and innovation when it is integrated with multi-functions, with areas serving the needs of accommodation, commerce, healthcare, education, office and especially entertainment. Planned according to the suburban resort urban model, the project has a scale of up to 420 hectares, of which 200 hectares are for green landscape, water surface, 5 large parks and a system of 1001 international standard utilities, bringing many experiences to residents and tourists.

Mr. Tran Ngoc Chinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association, Chairman of the VUPA 2024 Award Council, said: “In the journey of creating a resort tourism and entertainment ecosystem across the three regions of the country, Sun Group has left unique marks in each project... One of those marks is the Sun Urban City project located at the intersection of three ancient rivers: Day River - Nhue River - Chau Giang River. The land converges the sources of heritage as well as the vitality of heaven and earth, becoming a peaceful place for residents in the South of the Hanoi capital region”.

Sun Urban City is located at the southern gateway of Hanoi, the intersection of major traffic routes such as National Highway 1A, Ring Road 5 of the Capital Region, Phap Van - Cau Gie - Ninh Binh Expressway, and the North - South high-speed railway. Therefore, the planning of this place into a resort metropolis to meet the diverse needs of residents for housing, health care, and entertainment is highly appreciated by planning and architectural experts.

Previously, in 2021, Sun Group received two National Urban Planning Gold Awards for its resort project complex in Phu Quoc including: Premier Village Phu Quoc Resort at Ong Doi Cape and Bai Kem Resort Complex with two hotels JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay and Premier Residences Phu Quoc Emerald Bay.

VUPA is the only national planning award in Vietnam organized by the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association, the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and VCCI every two years since 2018. The projects participating in this year's award have been carefully invested, serious, creative, meeting the trend of balanced and sustainable development. At the same time, they are in harmony with cultural and traditional values, have solutions to organize architectural space, landscape, and develop a reasonable infrastructure system.
