Coconut water is one of the popular drinks that can help cool the body and provide energy. However, drinking coconut water every day is not always suitable for everyone.

In a 240ml cup of coconut water, the main ingredient is water (228g) with 600mg of potassium (12% of daily value), 252mg of sodium, 57.6mg of calcium, 60mg of magnesium (accounting for 10% of the body's daily calcium and magnesium needs)... This makes coconut water a highly electrolyte drink.

Coconut water contains about 46 calories, 10 grams of natural sugar, little protein and no fat, so it can be a low-calorie, low-sugar alternative to soft drinks like bottled soda.

Some notes when using coconut water

- Should not be used at night as it can cause indigestion. People with cold constitutions (slow digestion, like to drink warm drinks, pale skin, frequent stomachaches, rumbling stomach, loose stools, cold hands and feet, etc.) should not regularly use coconut water. Heat-clearing herbs are very dangerous and can cause diarrhea and loss of yin.

- People with kidney failure should consider moderate amounts when using coconut water to avoid affecting kidney function.

- You should only drink one coconut a day, drinking too much will cause bloating, especially when mixed with coconut rice, ice and drinking in the evening. You should also not replace filtered water with coconut water because drinking too much coconut water can add too many vitamins and minerals as well as increase the amount of sugar in the body.

The need to quench thirst, replenish water and minerals for the body with coconut water in hot weather is necessary, however, it should not be overused. It is best to listen to your body's needs and consult your doctor before using coconut water daily.
