Taking Vietnam-Malaysia relations to new heights

(CPV) - Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Party Central Committee's External Relations Commission Le Hoai Trung said that the official visit to Malaysia from November 21-23 by General Secretary To Lam and his wife will contribute to raising the relationship between the two countries to a new height, thereby creating new and important conditions for consolidating our peaceful environment and mobilizing more resources for national development.

Responding to the press about the purpose and significance of the official visit to Malaysia from November 21-23 by General Secretary To Lam and his wife, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Party Central Committee's External Relations Commission Le Hoai Trung affirmed that the official visit to Malaysia by General Secretary To Lam, his wife and the high-ranking delegation of the Party and State is of great significance in implementing the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress and the documents of the Party and State on foreign affairs; in which, determining that relations with ASEAN countries, Southeast Asian countries and ASEAN organizations have a very important position. Malaysia is a country with an important position in Southeast Asia, with prestige and influence in ASEAN. In particular, in 2025, Malaysia will officially assume the role of ASEAN Chair.

Head of the Central Committee for External Relations Le Hoai Trung said that in recent times, the relationship between Vietnam and Malaysia has developed very well. The visit will contribute to raising the relationship between the two countries to a new level, thereby contributing to creating new and important conditions for consolidating our peaceful environment and mobilizing more resources for national development.

Party Central Committee Secretary Le Hoai Trung said that Malaysia is a successful example of development, and has recently put forward major development strategies in the coming time, including the mobilization of new productive forces. This can help us take advantage of favorable conditions for national development and continue to demonstrate a positive spirit and responsibility in contributing to common work, including ASEAN, of which Malaysia will be the Chair in 2025. Through this, the two countries will enhance understanding, complement each other and develop together with a vision for the new period and contribute to peace and stability of us and the region in the new period.

Assessing the achievements of cooperation between Vietnam and Malaysia in recent times, Head of the Central External Relations Commission Le Hoai Trung stated that the relationship between Vietnam and Malaysia has developed very well, comprehensively and strongly, especially in the past 10 years, since the two countries established a strategic partnership in 2015.

Head of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission Le Hoai Trung emphasized that Vietnam is the only ASEAN country with which Malaysia has established a strategic partnership. Through this, the two countries have better understood each other and political trust has been enhanced. The two countries share views on major international issues, and relations have developed in many areas. The two countries are important economic partners of each other. Specifically, Malaysia is Vietnam's third largest trading partner in ASEAN, and is always one of the 10 largest foreign investors. There are currently tens of thousands of Vietnamese workers working in Malaysia. People-to-people exchanges have also developed. Every year, about 700-800 thousand Vietnamese and Malaysians travel to each other's countries.

Defense and security cooperation has also been expanded, with many new mechanisms and agreements, and many new forms of cooperation. For example, cooperation activities between coast guard and navy forces, between information exchange mechanisms, etc. Cooperation in multilateral forums, including ASEAN, has also become increasingly close.

Providing information about the main activities of this visit as well as expectations about the results achieved after the visit, Head of the Central External Relations Commission Le Hoai Trung said that this time, the General Secretary is expected to have meetings with politicians and top leaders of Malaysia, including the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Speaker of the House of Representatives, President of the Senate, Chairmen of the largest parties and political parties of Malaysia.

In addition, the General Secretary will deliver an important policy speech at the University of Malaya, the largest and most prestigious university in Malaysia as well as in the region and the world. The General Secretary and the delegation will have meetings with the business community. The General Secretary will visit and meet with embassy officials, community representatives, businesses, and Vietnamese students in Malaysia.

Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Party Central Committee's External Relations Commission Le Hoai Trung believes that during the visit, the leaders of the two countries will have the opportunity to discuss the international and regional situations and the situation of each country, thereby enhancing mutual understanding and consolidating political trust. At the same time, the visit will create an important foundation to comprehensively elevate the bilateral relationship, especially in areas of interest to both countries such as cooperation in politics, foreign affairs, defense, security, economy, and people-to-people exchange.

Malaysia is developing strongly in digital technology, green technology, especially the pillars of Malaysia's new economic framework - called the MADANI Strategy, which the Malaysian Prime Minister has proposed. Meanwhile, Vietnam is entering a new era, an era of national development with very large orientations, including a very important economic orientation of liberating and promoting new productive forces, including issues related to digital technology, green economy, and energy. These are also directions that Malaysia attaches importance to.

On that basis, Head of the Central External Relations Commission Le Hoai Trung affirmed that the two countries will complement each other, creating more strength for the two countries to enter a new stage of development of the two countries; at the same time, strengthen more effective cooperation to coordinate and respond to new challenges as well as promote advantages in the international environment, especially promoting the central role of ASEAN in the region, a very important organization of Southeast Asian countries that Malaysia will chair in 2025./.
