Journalist Fabrizio Romano said Napoli is willing to pay an additional 44 million euros to MU to buy Hojlund outright, after spending 6 million euros on loan for this striker last summer.
The source also confirmed that the deal was almost certainly triggered by Napoli, as the Italian club sees Hojlund as the future of the team. Napoli's leadership also believes that the Danish striker can stay long-term at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
That belief was further reinforced after the 2003-born striker's brilliant performance recently. In the early morning of October 6, Hojlund scored the decisive goal to help Napoli come from behind to defeat Genoa 2-1 in round 6 of Serie A. This was a match in which Napoli faced many difficulties, but the timely brilliance of the young striker helped the team win all 3 points.
In the last 2 matches, Hojlund has scored 3 goals, bringing the total number of goals since arriving in Italy to 4. After the initial period of needing time to adapt, the former MU player is showing clear progress in both his playing mentality and finishing efficiency.
In Serie A, Hojlund fully exploited his speed advantage, the ability to accelerate in quick counter-attacks and choose smart positions in the penalty area.
